Sips and Giggles
The North Boulevard HSA Fundraiser, "Sips and Giggles" on Friday, May 30th at The Brownstone will feature three comedians, including Pequannock's very own Ryan Lynch and Vanessa Tropona, starting at 7:00 PM. Doors will open at 6:30.
Plenty of great good, belly laughs and tricky tray prizes will make this a fun-filled night!
Also, the NB HSA is respectfully seeking baskets or prize donations for the chance auction at the event. All baskets will be on display and will be marked with a sign naming the contents of the basket and thanking the generous donor(s). As a prize donor, you will also be named on the website and in the event program.

District/ Community News
Pequannock Environmental Commission Upcoming Dates
- April 5: 11am-2pm. Pequannock Library Fest. We and our AmeriCorps Watershed Ambassador will have tables set up with an “EnviroScape” physical model to demonstrate how rainfall flushes pollutants from suburban areas into lakes and streams, and how we can use things like the Library’s rain gardens to solve those problems.
- April 12: 9am-1pm. Annual Town/River Cleanup. We help coordinate this annual event, where families can visibly beautify parts of our town. Sign in at the Senior House.
- April 26: 9:30am-11:30am. Annual Mini “BioBlitz” at PV Park. We team with AmeriCorps Watershed Ambassadors to lead families on a 2-part, interactive experience. First, we pull buckets of water from Meyer’s Brook and show kids how to find all the different macroinvertebrate “critters” lurking there, and how what we find can tell us about the ecological health of the stream. Then we lead everyone on a walk around Woodland Lake, pointing out birds, other animals, and plants, and comment on what’s beneficial and what’s not!

Important Health Information
It is April and allergy season is upon us! Itchy, watery eyes, sneezing and nasal congestion are the symptoms that students will start to exhibit as pollen season begins.
Get a head start:
- Follow your healthcare provider's recommendation for antihistamines, saline nasal spray
- Monitoring pollen counts and staying indoors on high-count days
- Wearing sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat when you’re outdoors, to prevent pollen from coming into contact with your eyes
- Keeping your house and car windows closed during pollen season, using the air conditioning as needed to cool off
- Placing a HEPA filter in your air conditioning unit to further reduce your exposure to pollen while you’re indoors
- Showering, shampooing and changing your clothes after being outside, especially before going to bed
- Using a clothes dryer to dry your clothing, rather than hanging them outdoors to dry
- Minimizing physical contact with any pets who spend significant amounts of time outdoors during pollen season
- Using a neti pot to help rinse pollen out of your nose
- Going outside after a steady rainfall, when the pollen has been washed out of the air
