Northview HS Newsletter
September 16 , 2024 Volume 2, Number 4
Northview Familia,
We achieved an average daily attendance of 97.2% for the week of 9/9 to 9/13.
Parents, I need your support. We need parents to help represent our school site at a variety of district meetings to have your voices heard:
LCAP Parent Representative:
The Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) is a three-year plan that California school districts and charter schools must create and update annually. The LCAP is a key part of the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) and is intended to improve student outcomes. The LCAP is a tool that helps districts set goals, plan actions, and use resources to achieve those goals. The LCAP is created with input from the community and must address the needs of all students.

Wellness Corner
As we settle into the school year, it's important to prioritize both our physical and mental health. Here are some wellness tips to keep you feeling your best:
Stay Hydrated: Aim to drink 8 glasses of water a day to boost your energy and focus.
Eat Balanced Meals: Include a variety of fruits, vegetables, proteins, and whole grains in your diet to stay fueled throughout the day.
Get Active: Incorporate at least 30 minutes of physical activity into your routine, whether it’s walking, dancing, or playing a sport.
Manage Stress: Take deep breaths, journal, or meditate to help reduce stress and keep a positive mindset.
Limit Screen Time: Give your eyes a break by stepping away from screens and enjoying some fresh air.
Wellness Challenge
Join our 7-day "Mind and Body Balance" challenge! For one week, focus on balancing mental and physical health:
- Drink water throughout the day.
- Take a 20-minute walk.
- Practice 10 minutes of mindfulness.
Stay well, Northview! Let’s make this a healthy and energized year together.
AVID Future Ready
CBU visited our campus this past week to speak to our seniors. Cal Baptist University is a private Christian University in the city of Riverside. CBU representatives love Northview students. Our students get admitted and those that end up attending really enjoy the beauty of a small private school. The application is free for the next two weeks! Our AVID students have already started this application. Seniors consider applying here: CBU Application. CBU is on rolling admissions, so there is no real deadline to apply. However, if a student is interested in Nursing they should apply by January 31, 2025. For more information, reach out to our counselors, Mrs. Worley, or Mrs. Corona.
Counseling Corner
Just another reminder as we prepare for college applications and approach key deadlines. Here's what you need to know this month, especially if you're applying to the California State University (CSU), University of California (UC) systems, Private Schools, or Out-Of-State Universities.
Key Dates for CSU and UC Applicants:
October 1, 2024 – CSU Application Portal Opens
Beginning October 1, students can start submitting applications to any CSU campus. Use this time to explore different campuses and majors. You can browse the CSU schools and programs here:
CSU Degrees and Programs
November 1-30, 2024 – UC Application Submission Window
Although the UC application opens on August 1, submissions begin in November. Use the time before November to perfect your personal insight questions, gather recommendation letters, and finalize your application. Learn more about UC schools and programs at:
UC Application Portal
Private Schools and Out-of-State Universities:
If you're applying to private or out-of-state universities, be sure to check their specific deadlines, as these are often earlier than those for in-state public schools. Missing these deadlines could impact admission and scholarship opportunities, so visit each school's website to stay informed about early decision, regular decision, and scholarship dates.
Lastly, we highly recommend not submitting your application without first attending an application workshop or having it reviewed by a counselor or academic advisor. Be on the lookout for upcoming college information sessions and application workshops.
