Greetings MAC Families!
We are officially in the month of March! If you can believe it, we are quickly approaching the last 3 months of the school year. At this point in the year students are learning as much as possible to be prepared for all of their upcoming assessments. We have been recognizing classrooms that have had great attendance and recognizing students for all of their hard work and progress they have made so far.
Next week we will kick off the month with Read Across America week. Please refer to the dress up calendar below. We hope that you join us in celebrating Read Across America Week as we kick off a new Beanstack Challenge. There are great prizes in store for our winners. Ask your child about the competitions we have going on.
Also, please be on the lookout for 3rd nine weeks report cards to be posted on March 28th. Please take some time to review your child's grades and set up parent conferences as needed. Our goal is to ensure all of our students are successful. Please be sure your child is here daily to properly prepare for all upcoming assessments. Thank you again for all you do and we look forward to completing this school year strong together.

Attention Parents: STAAR Words of Encouragement
Dear Parents,
As our students prepare for the upcoming STAAR assessments, we recognize that this time can bring about feelings of nervousness for our 3rd to 5th graders. To help boost their confidence and remind them of their incredible efforts Please take a moment to fill out the Google Form linked below. Our MAC staff will compile your messages and create personalized cards for each student to read the day before their first STAAR test. We believe that your kind words will provide the final push they need to "rock" the STAARabilities, we invite you to share words of encouragement for your child.
Thank you for your support and encouragement!
Warm regards,

Message from our Campus Instructional Coaches
3rd - 5th - Poetry is an area of growth for STAAR practice. Understanding the structure of poetry can be tricky. To help at home visit our local public library to check out poetry books or have students utilize Reading A-Z to read poetry. Asking basic questions such as who is the speaker? Or what is the message the poet is trying to express? Does this poem have rhyme? If so, why did the poet write it in that way? This video is a great resource to understand the necessary structures or elements of poetry.
3-5th STAAR Math practice - STAAR test is coming up in April. Get your child ready for STAAR by practicing Math on the Texas Assessment platform.
K-5 iKNowit - engage your elementary child with interactive math practice.

Message from our Librarian, Ms. Peil
Ms. Peil will be reading Lupin: the Heart Healing Fish by Diana Lee and illustrated by Jamie Coburn. "Who do you talk to when you have big feelings? Well, the class fish of course!
Lupin, the betta fish, loves children, and children love him.
They begin to share their feelings with him, and one by one, he heals their hearts.
But when Lupin starts feeling blue, will the children be able to heal his heart, too?" Please ask your child to answer this question during "Read Across America Week"! Ms. Peil will also host this author Diana Lee during your child's Enrichment schedule. She has included the link if you are interested in purchasing a book from Barnes and Noble.
