Trades Day - A Day for Career Exploration
The Career Technical Education office is offering the opportunity for students interested in a trade pathway as a post-secondary plan to attend the Trades Day Fair hosted by Palomar College on November 7th from 10am-12pm. We are looking to secure busing from two locations (PHS 8:45am, RBHS 9am). Any student interested in attending and taking the bus, please fill out and submit this google form so that we can determine an accurate head count. Included below is a brief description of what the fair entails:
Inspiring New Career Pathways
Trades Day introduces students to industry career opportunities in construction, design, sub-contracting, heavy equipment, engineering, and other skilled trades.
Empowering Youth to Pursue
Partners from the trades, industry, training and post-secondary programs, and others will join to inspire local students. Many will bring hands-on activities for students to explore the industry, teaching them skills such as hammering, cement mixing, roofing, and welding. This unique opportunity showcases the rewarding and exciting nature of this career pathway.

Financial Aid Tip
Don't wait! Start applying for scholarships now to increase your chances of getting free money for college. Check out our Scholarship Newsletter!
Some scholarships for college are merit-based. You earn them by meeting or exceeding certain standards set by the scholarship-giver. Merit scholarships might be awarded based on academic achievement or on a combination of academics and a special talent, trait, or interest. Other scholarships are based on financial need.
Many scholarships are geared toward particular groups of people; for instance, there are scholarships for women or graduate students. And some are available because of where you or your parent work, or because you come from a certain background (for instance, there are scholarships for military families).
A scholarship might cover the entire cost of your tuition, or it might be a one-time award of a few hundred dollars. Either way, it’s worth applying for, because it’ll help reduce the cost of your education.
