Hirsch Core Values: Self-Discipline, Optimism, Altruism, and Respect!!!
Principal's Corner
Dear Hirsch Hawk Parents and Guardians,
I can't believe we are a little over a week away from a new school year! This is a year of change for me and my family as my oldest leaves for his freshman year at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. Our middle child is entering her senior year of high school, and our youngest is beginning ninth grade. It seems like just yesterday that my son was starting Kindergarten and I was walking with him to meet his teacher. I remember praying that he wouldn't cry and that I wouldn't cry in front of him. He didn't shed a tear as he bravely waved goodbye to me, but I have to admit, I cried like a baby once I left him. As I prepare to take him to another city, I know we'll have a similar experience. He's ready to bravely face the world, and though I'm ready for him to soar, I'm getting my tissue ready because I know once again I'll cry like a baby.
I know that each year when you bring your children to school, you're praying too—that they'll have a great year, that they will make friends, and that they will have teachers who see them for who they are and will nurture them. I hope you know that we want the same things for your children, and we're so happy that you've entrusted us with their care.
As we count down the final days before the start of the school year on Wednesday, August 14, I want to take a moment to share some exciting details about the special events we have planned for our Hirsch Elementary community.
School Theme: Our theme for the school year is "Unstoppable Heroes: Empowering Every Student to Soar." We want out students to know and believe that they can accomplish great things. This year's book is "Unstoppable Me!: 10 Ways to Soar Through Life" by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer and Kristina Tracy. This beautiful book teaches children how to hold on to the no-limit thinking they were born with and encourages them to enjoy life and become unstoppable as they strive to attain their dreams. Click HERE for the read aloud you can share with your child!
Annual Student Update: Our Annual Student Update is now active! It is crucial that you complete this update as soon as possible. This process is essential for your child to be assigned to a teacher for the school year. Please click HERE to complete the update or contact the front office for assistance.
Meet the Teacher & Annual Back to School Block Party: We are thrilled to invite you to our Meet the Teacher event and Annual Back to School Block Party on Friday, August 9, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. This is a fantastic opportunity for you and your child to meet their new teacher, explore the classroom, and reconnect with friends and staff.
Our Block Party promises to be an afternoon of fun and community spirit, featuring:
- Food trucks
- Games
- Community partners
- Bouncy houses
- Free haircuts
Make sure you pick up your CAR RIDER OR WALKER TAGS to avoid dismissal delays on the first day of school! We hope to see you there as we celebrate the start of another exciting school year!
First Day of School: The first day of school is Wednesday, August 14. Doors will open at 7:35 a.m. We are eager to welcome your children back to school and embark on a year filled with learning, growth, and success.
We are looking forward to an incredible school year and can’t wait to see you all soon. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at (281)891-8330.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
Warm regards,
Mrs. LaToya Patterson
