Student Weekly Updates for Southside High School
ACT on Tuesday, March 11
All 11th grade students will take the ACT on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. 11th grade students should arrive at school at the normal time. Tardy bell will ring at 7:45. Students will report to the lunchroom to eat a free breakfast when they arrive. After breakfast, students will wait in the auditorium to be called to their testing room. Please do not bring book bags, cell phones, or any electronic device into the building on this day. 11th grade students may check-out with a signed parent note after the test is over. Remember, this is a required state test! It is very important that you are on time and do your best!
All 9th, 10th, and 12th grade students will have a regular school day for those that would like to attend. Those students will have designated areas during testing to work (PE Gym). 9th,10th, and 12th grade students not present that morning will not be counted absent that morning, but will need to check in by 11:30. Career Tech buses will run as normal. Career Tech students, please be here by 11:30 for the buses to leave on time. We are hopeful we will be able to go to 6th-8th period, but will not be able to resume a regular schedule until testing is completed for the day. We will use this day as a reteaching/catch-up/make-up work type of day if possible.

Important Check In and Checkout Procedures - please read!
Check In/Tardy and Checkout Procedures
All students that are tardy, checking-in to school or checking out of school MUST GO THROUGH THE FRONT OFFICE. We have a new finger scan system in place (very similar to the lunchroom finger scan system) where each student will scan in or out with check-in/check-outs and tardies.
A parent, guardian, or someone on your check-out list MUST sign you out of school to checkout. This is the same as always. The student must then go through the office to scan out before leaving. This procedure must be followed.
We do not accept over the phone checkouts. Please do not call the school for a checkout. Someone on the students checkout list must come and sign the student out of school. Please do not email to the school for a checkout.
If there are extenuating circumstances or an emergency situation, please contact an administrator or the front office.
Please remember how important attendance at school is! Please don't checkout of school unless absolutely necessary. If you are absent, please turn excuses in to front office.
Remember....
Students are not allowed to exit the building to go to your car, even if you forgot something you really need! If you need something, you have to go through the office and an admin or SRO will escort you to your vehicle. Disciplinary consequence will apply if you do not follow these procedures!
This will be enforced!
