Grades for semester 1 close on Friday, 1/24 and semester 2 begins on Tuesday, 1/28, which will be a Gold Day. See here for more information.

On Thursday, January 16, 2025, Souhegan High School's Math Department will hold an informational meeting for students and parents interested in advancing in mathematics. Melanie Paradis
What is your role at Souhegan?
I teach in the English Department at Souhegan. I'm teaching both American and World Studies this year.
How long have you been with Souhegan?
This is my first year as a part of the faculty at Souhegan, but my second year here overall. I completed a year-long internship here as a part of my graduate program with UNH during the 2018-2019 school year. I'm really excited to be back!
What do you love about your job?
I love being in an English classroom every day and working with people who value education as much as I do. This means that I get to read and discuss books with students, work closely with students on their writing, and watch them grow. Some of my favorite moments are when students surprise themselves with what they’re capable of accomplishing. Overall, I get to be a part of my students' stories and hope that, in some way, they take away something valuable from their experiences in my classroom. I also love working with my colleagues whose passion, kindness, and resilience inspire me daily.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I love to read, listen to audiobooks while I walk, spend time with my family (my husband and two cats), cook new recipes, and discover new, local gems. One of my favorite day trips this summer was to the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill in Boylston, MA.
If you were given one wish what would it be?
I would wish that the Library of Alexandria had never burned down.
