STATE TESTING PROTOCOL REGARDING CELL PHONES
State testing is just around the corner, please note the following protocol regarding cell phones during the testing window:
Cellular, messaging, or wireless devices have the capability of recording, reproducing, or transmitting secure test content. For this reason, students’ cell phones, smart watches, pagers, iPods®, tablets, and other non-approved, web-enabled communication devices must be turned off and kept out-of-view and reach until the test session is complete (for all students in that test session). Once all secure test materials have been collected, accounted for, and secured, these devices may be returned to students. It is important that school administrators and staff establish and communicate this policy to students as use of these devices during state assessments will result in the students test being invalidated.

IMPORTANT IMMUNIZATION CHANGES
Immunization Changes for 2020-2021 School Year
We want your child to start school on the first day of school. Please make sure your child’s immunizations are up to date before you register your child for the 2020-2021 school year. You can avoid the back-to-school rush in August by contacting your child’s doctor now to get the required vaccinations.
Beginning August 2020:
1. Children will not be able to start school unless they are in compliance with Washington state immunization requirements. https://www.doh.wa.gov/CommunityandEnvironment/Schools/Immunization
2. Medically verified immunization records will be required to complete the certificate of immunization status card for any newly enrolled student. https://www.doh.wa.gov/YouandYourFamily/Immunization/SchoolandChildCare/RuleChanges
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION, 2020 - 2021
REGISTRATION HAS BEGUN!
To register for kindergarten, bring proof of birth date and officials doctor or state immunization records to your neighborhood school.
We recommend parents register their children by May 1st to ensure that you and your child receive an invitation to attend the kindergarten visitation program this spring.

THANK YOU, VOTERS!
A three-year supplemental levy that will maintain current levels of programs and services in Vancouver Public Schools was recently approved by Vancouver voters with 60.51% yes votes. The levy will make up a multimillion budget shortage due to changes in state funding for education.
“I am extremely grateful to this community for providing more than 55 years of continuous financial support for our students and schools,” said Superintendent Steve Webb. “This election shows the value our voters hold for the education of our children and youth.”
For information about the levy, please visit vansd.org/levy.

¡Gracias, votantes!

IF YOUR STUDENT IS ILL PLEASE KEEP THEM HOME
Just a reminder, if your student is vomiting and has diarrhea, and/or a fever they must remain out of school until it’s been at a full 24 hours since the last episode of vomiting or diarrhea, and they must be fever free for 24 hours without temperature lowering medication (like Tylenol, acetaminophen, Motrin, ibuprofen, etc).
Talk to your child about using good hand washing with plenty of soap and warm water, for at least 30 seconds of hand scrubbing. Wash every time before eating, after using the bathroom, and playing outside.

Please be sure to 'like' and 'follow' our OFFICIAL school Facebook page. There is more than one page out there - look for our logo to be sure you have the right one. We will post about our school regularly.
WE HAVE GONE ELECTRONIC
Please be sure to update the office with your current email address. Most of our correspondence, for example: schedule changes, early release information, etc. will only go home electronically. We will no longer be printing hard copies. It is also the quickest way to reach a parent or guardian in the event of an emergency. If you are not sure of the email you have on file with us please contact the office and we would be happy to check it for you.
CHANGE IN LAST MINUTE GOING HOME PLANS
The Office CAN NOT take changes over the phone. Plans need to be made before your student comes to school and a written note signed by the Parent or Guardian must be received.
To insure we are able to continue keeping all students safe during the "go home" process at the end of the day teachers and the office need to know changes at the start of the day. If you are wanting your student to ride a different bus, or go home a different way, we need this in writing. Phone calls cannot be accepted for this.
NO NOTE = YOUR STUDENT WILL GO HOME ON THEIR NORMALLY SCHEDULED PLAN
