Youth Mental Health & Wellness Day
A day to celebrate the importance of youth mental health!
Third Annual Youth Mental Health & Wellness Day
It was an environment where youth, families and community members gathered for two hours of fun while learning about resources available to them to help support their mental health.
Resources and Information
Youth in the community were able to learn about resources available in the community. Over 20 community organizations attended to support students and families.
360 Photo Booth
The 360 Photo Booth was one of the many fun-filled activities available for attendees!
Baby Animals!
Taking a break from their studies, students enjoyed the opportunity to pet and interact with baby animals!
Thank you to our amazing Community Partners!
Community partners staged tables with information for the over 550 people in attendance. Information available included programs for kids to participate in both after school and over the summer. Organizations such as Youth Elemento, the Chelsea Public Library, and many others offered resources about how to participate in their respective organizations. Activities for kids included a petting zoo, dance classes, the "Copsicle" ice cream truck with the Chelsea Police Department, a 360 Photo Booth and more!
“By joining hands with our community partners and harnessing the wealth of resources available, the Youth Mental Health Day Event for CPS has been a resounding success in helping dismantle the stigma surrounding mental health. Together, we are fostering inclusivity, understanding, and a promising future where mental well-being is prioritized and celebrated by all.”

Mental Health Heroes in our Community
A moment that was new to this year's Youth Mental Health event was the recognition of two community members who go above and beyond to create supportive environments for our youth. Congratulations to the inaugural recipients, Jay Velez and Dr. Rebecca Lowenhaupt, who are pictured below with CPS Superintendent Dr. Almi G. Abeyta and Brenda Pena.
Mental Health Resources at Chelsea Public Schools
Youth Mental Health and Wellness Day occurs every year in May during Mental Health Awareness Month. The event is part of CPS’ ongoing efforts to reinforce the importance of mental health in students’ education and livelihood. Over the past three years, CPS has prioritized expanding access to mental health supports. Investments in expanded telehealth services for middle and high school students with Cartwheel Care, enhancing its partnerships with support organizations such as Alongside and increasing its school counseling and social work departments are among the measures taken by CPS to meet the needs of students.
CPS families interested in more information about how to access these resources can call their child’s school.
