Give your child a healthy start!
Mornings can be rushed, but it is important to make time for breakfast.
Children can benefit from the School Breakfast Program! Studies show that school breakfast can raise test scores while improving classroom attentiveness and behavior. Make sure your kids start the school day with a healthy meal!
Attention St. Paul Youth Hoops Community:
I’m excited to announce that SPYSO will be expanding to include a Basketball Program in St. Paul. We are still developing exactly what this will look like, but hope it provides more opportunities for our little “hoopers” that want to spend more time in the gym, and/or play in more competitive leagues. This program extension is designed to be a supplement to the existing options already available for our athletes.
This program will primarily affect boys and girls, grades 4-8. The goal is to host skills clinics to help build the fundamental skills that are necessary to take their play to the “next level” as well as gauge interest (and skill level) to determine if we have an opportunity to supplement with some tournament play, in addition to other options available to the players, like Middle School basketball (that would take priority), and Park and Rec options through CPRD. As time allows, we may also be able to host tournaments, and other fun competitions throughout the season.
Please bear with us, as we work through some of the natural “kinks” that come with building something new. Our goal is to offer an opportunity for any kids that want it, to play more, and in some cases, at a higher level of competition. We will make every effort to keep costs down for tournament teams and participants. The hope is that we can do a little fundraising throughout the year as the program gets started, to help cover as much of the cost as possible.
There will still be clinics and opportunities for kids K-3, but the tournament play won’t start until 4th grade. Chehalem Park and Rec Basketball (Little Tigers) is still the best option for athletes in these grade levels. The middle school program is still available (and ENCOURAGED) for girls and boys, grades 6-8.
Watch for more information to come, and registration openings. We will likely need some volunteers to help coach as well, so please be sure to reach out if you’re interested in being a volunteer coach.
More details to come in the next couple weeks!
For now, if you have an athlete in this age group (4th-8th grade), and you’d be interested in them participating in skills clinics and potentially some tournament play Oct-Feb/Mar, please fill out the interest form, so we have a good idea of how many participants we may expect.
If you’re an out of district family, and don’t have children attending a St. Paul school, please go ahead and fill out the interest form and indicate that you're "out of district" there. In the event we have strong numbers, athletes in the school district will have priority.

PLEASE NOTE: St. Paul Youth Hoops and SPYSO Facebook Pages will be completely merged by the end of the year! If you aren’t already a member of the SPYSO Page, please join! The St. Paul Youth Hoops page will be discontinued by 12/31/24.

Students will be learning about the history, values, sacrifices, and experiences of service members. These students would like to honor local community members who are active service members or veterans by gathering and posting information in our hallway. If you would like to participate, please email any of the following information to Mrs. Reed (melissa.reed@stpaul.k12.or.us): your name, branch, job(s), years served, deployment(s), and picture.
