CISD Families 3-Pointers

We hope everyone made it through last week’s wild winter weather! Sometimes, a few extra days off due to ice and snow can be a welcome break. We hope you and your family enjoyed the time together, and that your kids are recharged and ready for a fantastic spring semester. The good news? Thanks to the extra minutes built into our schedule, these weather days won’t impact our school calendar. As of now, we still get to enjoy our designated bad weather days off!
Our administration and Board of Trustees are excited to visit all campuses in the coming weeks to provide updates on the legislative session and the state of our district. As always, there are so many amazing things happening in CISD!
Happy 2025, and Go Dragons!

Are you ready for 2025?!
What an amazing fall semester in Carroll ISD! We celebrated 35 National Merit Semi-finalists, earned our 9th Lone Star Cup, made the AP Honor Roll for the 9th consecutive year, advanced to State in Band, Football, Girls Water Polo, and Girls Cross Country, while making deep playoff runs in Volleyball and Tennis – plus, we brought home the State Championship in Boys Cross Country! Additionally, our middle, intermediate, and elementary students achieved incredible success.

2025-26 School Calendar
Our Board of Trustees will be reviewing the proposed 2025-2026 School Calendar later this month. A copy of the proposed calendar is included in this update for your review. Barring any significant changes required by the state, our goal is to provide families with a consistent calendar each year. You can count on us starting school in August, ending in May, enjoying a week off at Thanksgiving, two weeks for Christmas break, a couple of bad weather days, and Spring break during the same week in March annually.
We believe consistency is the “key” to a successful school calendar. Parents should have a clear idea of what to expect without needing to search through the district website. That said, we greatly value input from our community and staff. If you have suggestions for improving the school calendar, please visit our school calendar webpage and click the link to share your feedback.

Take Action Dragons
The 89th Texas Legislative Session is underway, presenting a vital opportunity to address the funding challenges impacting school districts like Carroll ISD. Since 2019, Texas public school districts have not received funding increases to account for inflation. CISD administration and trustees are committed to educating the community on the importance of advocacy during this legislative session.
Carroll ISD's Legislative Priorities include:
- Increasing the basic allotment
- Funding underfunded mandates
- Reforming the recapture system
These priorities highlight the urgent need to overhaul an outdated and inadequate school finance formula. CISD ranks among the lowest-funded districts in Texas, losing over 20% of local property tax revenue to recapture. With no basic allotment increase since 2019, record inflation, and significant costs tied to underfunded state mandates, legislative action is crucial.
