Happy Labor Day to all the wonderful Warrior families! I hope you’re enjoying some relaxation and quality time together. As you celebrate, I’d like to invite you to participate in a meaningful community outreach opportunity with SMS PTSA. From August 30th to September 30th, they are collecting gently used clothing, shoes, accessories, and household linens for recycling and reuse.

Why should you donate?

1. **Declutter**: Clear out unwanted items from your home.

2. **Support Others**: Help those in need by donating items that will be reused.

3. **Protect the Environment**: Reduce waste by keeping items out of landfills.

4. **Fundraise**: SMS PTSA will receive funds for every pound of items donated!

You can drop off your donations in plastic bags at the Phill the Box bins located in the SMS front parking lot near the dumpsters or with our designated volunteers during AM carline on select mornings. The International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) is an educational framework that encourages students aged 11 to 16 to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. At a time when students are establishing their identity and building self-esteem, the MYP is uniquely designed to offer a well rounded education and help students achieve success in school and in life.

The MYP ensures breadth and depth of understanding through study in eight subject groups (language acquisition, language and literature, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, arts, physical and health education, and design). Addressing the intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being of students holistically, the MYP prepares them to take principled action by participating in service within the community and requiring study of at least two languages (language of instruction and additional language of choice) to support the understanding of their own cultures and those of others. MYP students also engage with big ideas, rather than simply memorizing facts in order to prepare for exams. As a result, they develop learning skills that they can rely on throughout the course of their independent, purpose-driven lives.

At Sanford Middle School, we offer a diverse range of STEM electives supported by strong, well-established programs. Among these, our Pre-Vet program stands out as one of the largest, thanks to our valuable partnership with the Central Florida Zoo. This collaboration provides our students with unique, hands-on learning experiences.

There are many untapped families and networks that could further enhance and support our programs. We invite you to connect with our community by attending our Community Connection Event on October 2nd from 10:00 to 10:30 AM, followed by a school tour from 10:30 to 11:00 AM.

Testing Policies

• Electronic devices, including cell phones, are not allowed during testing.
• Arriving on time is crucial as late arrivals may not be allowed to enter the testing room.

Warriors, it's time to record your PM1 starting point and begin reviewing the goals you've set! This is your chance to pinpoint where you need to focus. Hard work, consistency, and a positive mindset are essential. Let's keep pushing forward, stay committed, and continue striving for excellence!
