Principal Points
Dear Coolidge Families:
We are rounding off our week with some blue skies and sunshine. It is always great for our students to be able to get some time outside in the fresh air.
Hats off to our 3rd and 4th graders and their teachers. Each of the students were ready for the ELA portion of the MStep. Next week, our Cougars will test Tuesday through Thursday for a sixty minute block of time. It is important that your student arrives to school at the start of the day. Some test taking strategies include:
Get a Good Night's Sleep
Sleep helps with memory and focus. Try to get 9–11 hours (depending on age).
Eat a Healthy Breakfast
Fuel the brain with foods like eggs, fruit, or whole grains—avoid sugary cereals.
Positive Self-Talk
Teach them phrases like:
"I’ve got this!"
"I’m ready to do my best!"
My office was under construction as our Young 5 class put on their architect hats to investigate my doors and windows in my office. They noticed that my door swung out , there is a tumbler and I even have a door jam.
As I shared in my last newsletter, we are working on lunchroom behavior. I am very happy to report that our students are coming out of the lunchroom quietly and moving through the hall on the correct side with their voices down. Give our Cougars a challenge and they will always rise to the occassion.
Enjoy the spring like weather this weekend. Let's hope we are done with the snow.
Best,
Mrs. Pierson

Coolidge Drop off and Pick up Procedures
The Loop (Highly Recommended) – The loop can be used for drop off or pick up. Students should remain in their cars until the car has come to a complete stop in the painted half circle area. Please do not let your child out of the car, or wave your child to your car, while you are in any other part of the loop area or driveway. Do not leave the loop area until the vehicle in front of you has left. Please remain alert and ready to move forward with traffic.
The Parking lot - The parking lot can be used for drop off or pick up. Your car should be parked in a parking spot and you will need to walk your child to and from the school doors utilizing only the crosswalk. OUr staff is there to assist you and your child. Your child should NEVER be in the parking lot without you at their side. The ONLY place that parking or sitting is permitted, is in a designated parking space. Parking anywhere else could prevent our buses from coming or going. (Using the loop is easier.)
The Crosswalk - The crosswalk is for our student to walk across the parking lot safely. Cars have been parking blocking the crosswalk. Please use our parking spots. Do not block the crosswalk!
