PBIS Review: Positivity, Kindness, Perseverance, and Courage
As we reflect on our journey with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), it's essential to recognize the profound impact it has had on our community. In particular, I'd like to delve into the core values of positivity, kindness, perseverance, and courage, which lie at the heart of PBIS.
Positivity permeates through our interactions, creating an environment brimming with optimism and possibility. It's inspiring to witness the ripple effects of positivity as it uplifts spirits, fosters resilience, and fuels growth. Whether it's a word of encouragement, a gesture of appreciation, or a shared moment of joy, each act contributes to the vibrant tapestry of positivity within our community.
Kindness serves as the cornerstone of our interactions, shaping the way we treat one another with empathy, compassion, and respect. In embracing kindness, we create a culture of inclusivity where every individual feels valued, heard, and supported. From simple acts of generosity to profound displays of empathy, kindness binds us together, forging connections that transcend differences and unite us as one community.
Perseverance propels us forward, guiding us through challenges, setbacks, and obstacles with unwavering determination. It's through perseverance that we discover the depths of our resilience, tapping into our inner strength to overcome adversity and achieve our goals. With each step forward, we embody the spirit of perseverance, embracing the journey with courage and resolve.
Courage emboldens us to stand up for what is right, to speak our truth, and to champion change in the face of adversity. It's the courage to challenge norms, confront injustices, and advocate for others that defines our character and shapes our collective identity. As we cultivate courage within ourselves and our community, we pave the way for a brighter, more equitable future for all.
As we continue our journey with PBIS, let us reaffirm our commitment to fostering positivity, kindness, perseverance, and courage within our community. Together, we can create a culture where these values thrive, enriching the lives of every individual and strengthening the bonds that unite us.
Thank you for your dedication, your compassion, and your unwavering commitment to building a better community through PBIS.
Northern Illinois was lucky enough to be very near to the line of the eclipse on Monday, April 8. Our students learned many things about it and were able to enjoy a viewing. We would like to extend our deep appreciation for the generous donation of glasses for every student and staff from Dr. Jessica Condie. Without her, our eclipse experience would not have been possible!
Please enjoy some pics from the event!
Put your glasses on, folks! 🕶️
Oliver Visits 2nd Grade!
Our school is very lucky to be able to host Oliver, a certified therapy dog. Oliver and his handler, Dawn Pfluger, stopped into Mrs. Moore's second grade class where he received a lot of pets and was read to by the students.
Jurassic Park Day
On April 22, Mrs. Wanke's 1st grade class celebrated Jurassic Park Day! Students engaged in many learning activities including measuring the length of dinosaurs, learning the difference between herbivores and carnivores, excavating for words, and many more!
Farm Week
During April, our PreK/EC students celebrated farm week. We had several friends stop in for a visit that week to teach us about the different types of animals that live on farms.
Modular Project
The PES Random Acts of Kindness (RAOK) Club with the help of a few PHS Key Club volunteers did a fantastic job painting the modular and weeding the flower beds April 15th after school!! Thank you again to Tim Humphry and Brianne France for their artistic sketches and the staff members that stayed after school to help. The modular painting project is not completely done yet, but it looks great so far! Our students are amazing!
Earth Day
In celebration of Earth Day, Mrs. Moore's class picked up trash around the school. They were able to collect 5 bags full of trash from around the facility. Thank you for helping keep our school and Earth clean!
A Message From Mrs. Hickman
Thank you for making our Book Fair amazing and creating memories that will last a lifetime!
Art Show and Book Fair
On April 25, Pecatonica Elementary hosted its annual spring book fair and art show. It was great to see all of our students' hard work and the joy as they got to show their families.
