Happy Friday, CMIT South Families!

As we step into a new month, we're thrilled to share the exciting developments happening at our school. Our students have been embracing their studies with enthusiasm, and it's truly inspiring to witness their progress and accomplishments.

We have some fantastic events coming up that we believe will further enrich our school community. Be sure to mark your calendars for our Back-2-School Nights on September 17th (Middle School) and September 18th (High School), from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. These evenings will give you the chance to meet your scholar's teachers and the dedicated support staff who make up our school team. You’ll also have the opportunity to take a guided tour of your scholar’s classrooms. On these same days, we’ll also be having our fall picture day, so please ensure your child has their white oxford shirt, as it is required.

Additionally, we're excited to announce our annual Back-2-School Block Party on September 20th! It’s a great opportunity for the whole family to enjoy fun activities, music, and food for purchase. Please note that students must be accompanied by a parent to participate.A heartfelt thank you goes out to all our volunteers and staff for their ongoing support and dedication in making our school a vibrant and supportive environment. If you haven’t yet, we encourage you to join our PTO and get involved!

Hello CMIT South Parents and Students,

We are excited to kick off the 2024-25 school year with our STEM activities and send our warmest greetings to everyone. At CMIT South MS/HS, we are happy to offer a range of great opportunities and invite you to be part of something special.

Our competition clubs are looking for students who love science, math, and engineering! Join us for a fun journey of learning, growth, and friendly competition, guided by our dedicated coaches.

All club introductions will take place throughout next week in Classroom 139 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Join us to receive more information and participate in activities to learn additional details about each club.

As we get closer to the Regional Competitions in the Spring, our meetings will become more frequent. Stay tuned – we'll announce the schedule, days, and times for the STEM clubs very soon!

⚽🏐⛳CMIT South Athletics: This Week's Action! 🎉

As Fall sports heat up, here's what to expect from CMIT South Athletics this week:

🏐Volleyball: Our reigning 1A regional champs are ready to defend their title! Catch the action on 9/11 as they travel to take on Potomac HS for the season opener. Let’s show our support for our Volleyball team as they kick off their season strong!

⚽Soccer: Our Soccer team has been hard at work all summer, and they’re ready to showcase their skills in their first matchup against Oxon Hill HS on 9/12. The game will take place at Oxon Hill HS, so be sure to cheer them on as they take the field!

⛳ Golf: Our Golf team is swinging into action for their first match of the year on 9/10 at Paint Branch Golf Course. Let’s wish them luck as they aim to start their season with a win!

🥎MS Softball Tryouts: Tryouts for the Middle School Softball team will be held on Monday, September 9th, from 3:30 – 4:45 at Mellwood Hills Park (7575 Dowerhouse Road, Upper Marlboro, MD). Please remember to bring a completed physical form and a glove!

🏀HS Boys Basketball Workouts: Workouts for Boys Basketball are underway! They take place on Tuesdays and Fridays from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.. Students must bring a signed permission slip to participate—see Mr. Smith for details.

🏀HS Girls Basketball Workouts: Girls Basketball workouts will begin soon! Interested students should contact Mr. Smith for a permission slip and fill out the interest form to get involved!

🎉 Thank You for Attending the Fall Sports Meeting: A huge thank you to everyone who attended our Fall Sports meeting! Your support and engagement mean so much, and we appreciate the valuable feedback from our community. We hope the information on college eligibility and our new CMIT South athletic handbook was helpful.

Volleyball season has begun. Come cheer us on at a game this season!

The CMIT South HS volleyball team is currently selling shirts for anyone who would like to support the team and/or have some school spirit wear in their wardrobe. Please click the link to order. The sale link closes at 11:59 p.m. on September 8th, so order now and don't miss out!!

Students: Any volleyball shirt purchased may be worn to school on Spirit Wear Fridays only.
