Preview the Peak - Tonight!
We invite you to join us on Tuesday, March 5 at 6:30-8 p.m. in the Glacier Peak Commons. All students and families are welcome to attend Preview at the Peak to learn more about the classes offered at GPHS. Teachers representing each department will be available to answer questions.
Macho Volleyball -Tonight!
Macho Volleyball is tonight at 6:00 p.m. in the Snohomish High School Main Gym. Come out and support our boys as they take on the Panthers. Entrance is $3 with an ASB Card, and $5 without. Let's go Grizzlies!
ACT for Juniors - Tomorrow!
DATE CHANGE:
- March 6 for Arena Testing
- Accommodation Testing: no change in dates/locations
GPHS will be administering the ACT for our juniors. Students should report to the Gym to check in by 7:15am. Please remember that the ACT is a college entrance exam and follows the same rules as national testing. Students must bring a photo ID (drivers license or school ID is appropriate) and a fully charged school laptop with the charger. Students are allowed to use an approved ACT calculator; however, one is embedded into the testing program. Cell phones, smart watches and backpacks are not allowed in the testing room. Please leave these things at home or in your car. Students are not allowed to wear hats or hoods during the exam. Please ensure that your child has reviewed these rules and is prepared for successful testing. Students testing with accommodations have been notified of their alternate date and location. The test may take over four hours. At the completion of testing, students will attend a lunch period and then report to the remainder of their 6th period class.

Boys Soccer Practice Schedule Change
There will not be Soccer Practice on Friday's March 15 and March 22.
Boys Varsity Basketball 3rd in State
Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Basketball team! After 4 days of state playoffs, the team took 3rd in State! This is the highest level in Glacier Peak's history!! Thank you to the Band, Cheerleaders and Fans for travelling to the Dome to support our team. Go Grizzlies!

The parent led Grad Night Party Committee will be at school during lunches for tickets sales on Mondays each week. Effective February 1, the ticket prices will increase to $225; exclusive Grad Night Party t-shirts will be limited availability. Questions?

Exploring Careers and Healthcare Opportunities Tour Field Trip
Students interested in healthcare career exploration are invited to the ECHO tour field trip on March 19 at EvCC. Please sign-up here. The Exploring Careers and Healthcare Opportunities (ECHO) tour is a career exploration program that offers interactive, multidisciplinary experiences through a variety of learning opportunities to students interested in pursuing careers in health care. This opportunity is open to Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors
The Washington Opportunity Scholarship - Baccalaureate is now open!
Students pursuing a four-year STEM and health care degree at a Washington institution are now eligible to apply to the Washington Opportunity scholarship. This scholarship provides up to $22,500 in scholarship dollars and access to career-launching support services for high-demand STEM and health care majors. WSOS can cover costs beyond tuition such as housing, transportation, food, and more. Funding can be used for any eligible STEM or health care major at any eligible public or private college or university in Washington state. Interested students can learn more about income eligibility requirements, major requirements, and eligible institutions on the WSOS Baccalaureate Scholarship page. The deadline to apply is February 29 (including FAFSA).

Seniors! The Local Scholarship Program is open!
Snohomish Education Foundation (SEF) 2024 Local Scholarship Program (LSP) scholarships are now available for district seniors at washboard.org. This year, there are nearly 100 different scholarships being offered to graduating seniors by individuals, school district alumni, businesses and organizations in our community. There is a wide variety of different types of scholarships recognizing all the different interests, hobbies and areas of focus – from future career paths, STEM, the arts, athletics and service – there is an opportunity for everyone.

Nellie Martin Carman Scholarship
Glacier Peak High School may nominate two seniors for the Nellie Martin Carman Scholarship. If you would like your counselor to consider you for nomination, please complete this form. Awards for this scholarship range from $500 to $2,000 a year and are renewable for up to four years. For more information on the scholarship: https://carmanscholarships.org/. Deadline to complete the request for nomination form is March 15 at 5 p.m. Please see the College and Career center with any questions!
Hands-on Apprenticeship Day for juniors and seniors
Juniors and seniors are invited to participate in the annual Trade Up! Apprenticeship Day. This is an opportunity for students to experience several hands-on activities in different trade areas in one space. This event will be held on Thursday, March 21, at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds, hosted by the Snohomish & Island County Labor Department in partnership with several local businesses and apprenticeship programs. Interested students please sign up here! Spaces are limited.

Counselling News
2024-2025 Registration
February 13 begins course registration for school year 2024-2025 with an informational video during Grizzly Period. On that day, students will receive registration materials including a course catalog. This year, registration will not be online but instead students will meet with a counselor and turn in a registration form.
Counselor registration meetings will occur on the following dates:
- March 12-14: Rising 10th graders in English 9.
Those absent during counselor visits will be invited to complete the registration process during a specific Grizzly Period March 22.

Dance Team
The Dance team will be holding clinics every Wednesday at 3:30 in the Mat room in preparation for the 2024-2025 season. All are encouraged to be in attendance, these clinics will assist you in learning the dances for the May tryouts.
2024 Glacier Peak Drumline Festival
2024 GLACIER PEAK DRUM LINE FESTIVAL MARCH 16th! Come and watch as Schools and exhibition drum lines (including the Seahawks Blue Thunder) compete for your entertainment! Tickets are available at the door: $7/students, $12/adults, $23/family. Doors open at 10:30 a.m., and the competition begins at 11a.m. Concessions will be available. Tickets available online HERE or at the door, and please share it with your family, friends and neighbors - this event is open to everyone!

PM at the Peak is an opportunity for students to get specific support in their classes. It is not simply a ‘study hall’. While students are welcome to use the time to study and work independently, it is designed to provide students an opportunity to ask for, and receive help from teachers on their homework, essays, or use the computers.

Helpful attendance reminders
To maintain accurate attendance records we would like to provide these helpful reminders and tips for reporting an absence, a late arrival or request for an early dismissal. Choose from one of the four easy ways to report absences.
- Call the attendance line 360-563-7505
- Enter a request in Family Access/Skyward
- Email gph-attendance@sno.wednet.edu
- A written note signed by a parent/guardian or medical/dental provider.
- Please provide your student's first and last name, the date of the absence and a reason for the absence. Please spell the name if needed.
- An absence will be considered excused when we receive notification from a parent or legal guardian in the attendance office within 48 hours of the absence.
