Message from the Principal
Thank you to everyone who attended Parent Orientation. It was wonderful to see so many families there! If you were unable to attend, please connect with your child's teacher. We understand that schedules can be busy, and we want to ensure that we're working together to provide your child with the best possible learning experience.
Don't forget to join us if you can for our first PTA meeting this Monday at 6 PM in the library. As a reminder, this Thursday is an early release for all students at 11:25 AM.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Drop Off and Pick Up Adjustments Per RMPD
There will be a slight adjustment to our car drop-off and pick-up procedures on School Street. The Rolling Meadows Police Department were here today to observe and moving forward, there will be an adjustment required. Beginning Monday, parents will only be allowed to use one side of School Street, the side closest to the school. Parking or drop off on the opposite side of the street is prohibited, meaning no parking or drop off - "left wheel to the curb". While there are currently no parking signs posted facing the opposite direction, authorities are working on obtaining new signs to clarify this restriction. This will be strictly enforced starting Monday by the RMPD. In previous years, it was not strictly followed, but recent observations due to safety have necessitated its implementation.
To ensure a smooth and efficient process, we kindly ask that you please adhere to the school procedures, all traffic laws, and parking signs. We greatly appreciate the vast majority of parents who follow the procedures. It's crucial that everyone takes responsibility for safety and demonstrates respectful behavior for our children. If you have others picking up your child, please communicate this information to them. I am truly so grateful for our parent community. When everyone works together, we can create a safe and enjoyable environment for all.
Erins Law
On January 24th 2013, Governor Quinn signed into effect Public Act 097-1147, also known as Erin’s Law. Erin’s Law was named in honor of Erin Merryn, a brave young woman who has crossed the country advocating for laws that will increase awareness of sexual abuse against children. This law has passed in 37 states, Illinois being one of them.
One of the law’s requirements is that schools provide an age/developmentally appropriate presentation to all students relating to sexual abuse and safety skills, which may include a variety of discussions, activities, videos and/or role play scenarios. These topics include concepts such as; safe and unsafe touches, getting help, boundaries, and empowerment. The purpose of this presentation is to provide students with tools needed for personal safety. We also strive to provide a nurturing and caring environment to openly discuss these topics, if a student desires.
Nationwide, 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys are sexually abused before the age of 18. 1 in 5 children are solicited sexually on the Internet. Nearly 70% of all reported sexual assaults (including assaults on adults) occur to children ages 17 and under. The median age for reported sexual abuse is 9 years old.
Through this program, aimed at educating and empowering students, we want to provide your child with the knowledge and skills to use if ever affected by sexual abuse.
Trained staff members will be presenting these lessons, in their classrooms, by winter break to meet the requirements of this law and to offer a safe space to students.
If you have any questions or would like additional information on the Erin’s Law presentations, please contact your building’s clinician or administrator. If you would like your child to opt out of these lessons please email your building principal and child's teacher by October 1st. The District 15 website also has a list of parental resources for your reference.
School Hours
School starts promptly at 8:25 AM. Students arriving after 8:25 will be considered tardy. We encourage students to arrive around 8:20 AM to ensure a smooth start to their day. However, if you need to drop your child off earlier, we welcome them at 8:10 AM when our supervision begins. Please don't hesitate to send your child inside at 8:10 AM; there's no need to wait in the car. For students who need breakfast, our doors open at 8:10 AM.
