Outdoor Education Experience
The UELF 5th graders participated in our school's FIRST Outdoor Education 3 day trip. AMAZING! The students, teachers, and 4 parent chaperones stayed in Raven Dorm on the NatureBridge Golden Gate Campus at Fort Cronkite. During these three days, the UELF Team hiked to the Lighthouse, hiked up the hills for a night hike to see SF City views, and explored the watershed. During their hikes, the team engaged in team building activities and nature journaling. Please join us on Wednesday, April 5th at Sally Tomatoes for an Outdoor Education Community Event so you can hear the testimonials of the students, plus begin the fundraising for next year's trip. UELF will have our first Information Meeting for the 5th Grade Class of 2024 on Feb. 16 at 5:30pm via GoogleMeet. Learn more about what we need to do to be ready for next year. Exciting!
City View from the Night Hike
Suspension Bridge at the LIghthouse

A confirmation email will be going out to registered families on Feb. 3rd. There will be childcare, a light dinner and study tools provided. The classes will be at UELF in room C2 with Tammy Barksdale.

Problem of the Month - Community Math Task
Work with your student/s to work through this problem. Spend the time talking out ideas and documenting the thinking of every family member. If your family would like Math Journal, pop by the office to pick one up. This helps all of you to record how your math communication skills will grow over time. The family can add ideas to the Jamboard and/or use the notebook then take a photo to upload to the Jamboard. Include student name and grade, eg Raymond L./1st. Have fun mathing!
Looking for a place to volunteer?
ALL volunteers participating on field trips and classroom volunteering must complete the CRPUSD Volunteer Registration Process, which includes fingerprinting. Please complete the application form and get yourself fingerprinted. This MUST be completed before you can volunteer. Once this is completed, you are clear for the duration of your child's school experience in CRPUSD, including high-school and middle school!

Stranger Awareness Safety Assembly
On Monday, Jan. 30th, I will be talking with the students, grades 3-4-5 at 11:30am and grades K-1-2 at 1pm, about Stranger Awareness. As the weather is sunny and amazing, the students are 6 months older from August, more students are walking, biking, scootering, and skateboarding to school independently. This is WONDERFUL! It's a rites of passage and it's how we, children and parents, develop trust in responsibility. Due to this observation, it deemed appropriate to build safety awareness.
Please review the video and slidedeck so you know what is being discussed. You are welcome to review and watch this with your child before Monday. I am asking parents to discuss this topic with students so students are empowered to know how they can be confident members of their community. My focus will be on awarenes. I will intentionally use the vocabulary:
- stranger awareness
- tricky
- buddy system
- trust
- communication
Please let me know if you'd like to discuss any aspects of this assembly.
Math Resources
- Online tools that aline with the math curriculum (Eureka) we use at UELF/CRPUSD.
- Embarc Online
- Engage NY Videos
- Zearn - Student practice online tool used in the classroom.
