Chapel
Lower School
This week in Chapel, we kicked off our new series, "New Year, New Journey, Same God." We explored the idea of starting a fresh journey with Jesus, trusting Him to guide us just as He guided Abraham in the Bible.
We read the story of Abraham, who listened to God’s call to leave his home and journey to a land he had never seen. Abraham didn’t know where God was leading him, but he trusted God’s promises and faithfully followed His instructions. His faith reminds us that we can trust God to guide us on our journey too.
We packed a spiritual suitcase filled with essential items that serve us as we walk with Jesus:
The Bible: our guide, like a map, showing us the way to live and follow God’s plan.
A Flashlight: reminding us that God’s Word lights our path, even in uncertain times.
A Heart: representing the love we share with others as we reflect Jesus in our actions.
Trust Compass: reminding us to rely on God to point us in the right direction, even when we don’t know what lies ahead.
We also focused on how joy strengthens us on this journey. Joy acts like fuel, helping us move forward even when life gets hard. Abraham found joy in trusting God’s plan, and we can experience that same joy knowing God is always with us.
Always a favorite, we sang “Same God,” a powerful reminder of God’s faithfulness throughout generations. We also sang a brand new song “Can’t Steal My Joy,” celebrating the unshakable joy we have in Jesus.
Memory Verse: Psalm 32:8 – “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go.”
We’re excited to continue this journey next week!
Middle/High School
This week, our middle school students had a great time hearing Hayden Kaughman, a junior at NCA, share her testimony of how she gave her life to Christ and how she has seen Him guide her and help her grow in her walk with Him day by day. She did a wonderful job and we are so thankful that she shared with them!
The high school student kicked off our new series titled Thieves: Sneaky Sins That Steal Your Joy. When we experience a new life in Christ, or going through spiritual growth, Satan wants nothing less than to sneak in and start to steal away the joy that is growing. This four-week series is based on John 10:10. Jesus wants to give us a life that is beyond extraordinary, but the thief wants nothing more than to steal and kill and destroy us. Week one’s topic was The Best Life. This message focused on the overall series goal and spent most of the time on John 10:10. Before knowing the thief's tricks, it is important to know that Jesus wants so much more for us!
We were joined again by our live worship band as they sang a mashup of Graves Into Gardens and Great Are You Lord. They have done a wonderful job preparing our hearts for worship and we hope to have them in each chapel service for the remainder of the school year!

Spanish (Lower School)
Parents,
Glad to see the students after a wonderful break!
This week we talked about a fun tradition that takes place after Christmas. It is the Three Kings Day which is celebrated on January 6th.
Students got to see how this tradition is celebrated, and we got to practice some of those traditions.
We had a vocabulary worksheet, a game, and 4th-6th graders got to "write" a letter to Los Reyes, (The wise men.)
4th through 6th graders wrote a letter in both languages, English and Spanish. Students were encouraged and challenged to use the vocabulary given by writing a letter to the Wise Men.
I am impressed by how well they incorporated their vocabulary!
We also played a game related to "La rosca de reyes" which is the traditional bread eaten on January 6th. This celebration is meaningful as it points back to Jesus.
Be involved by asking your students the meaning of the bread, the colors, and what it represents. Have them read their letter to you, and ask them about the game too! We had fun while still learning.
Have a great week!
Mrs.Zelaya.
