Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families-- Welcome to November! Where does the time go? Speaking of time, I heard we get to “fall back” 1 hour this Sunday, November 03—so watch those clocks. How long does it take you to get around to resetting the clock on your stove or microwave?
It was a fun ‘spirit’ week for students and staff this week. Many of our students participated in our annual “Trunk Or Treat” night. It was so cool! Check out the fun photos and the effort our students put forth to create fun themes to inspire smiles on the hundreds of youngsters who came by for a very productive evening of candy gathering!
On Tuesday, we had a nice turn-out of families and community members at our East Region Community Link Event. Dr. Parker provided a detailed overview of programs, initiatives, and financial status of our district. Then the microphone and camera toured the tables of our elementary, middle school, and Ridgeline tables. At the tables students and staff shared highlights of programs that inspire them and create positive outcomes for students. If you weren’t able to make it, but are interested in viewing the night, you can check it out at this link (https://youtu.be/YpJNukTVXi4).
We have another important, and time-sensitive, reminder for students in AP classes regarding AP testing documentation and fees. Please continue to follow these instructions so you won’t be surprised in the spring.
You can support our Class of 25 Grad Night! There’s an easy QR code link below where you can sponsor a prize so all seniors cant take away something cool along with great memories on their last night together as a class!
Good luck to our soccer girls in their playoff game with Walla-Walla tomorrow, and good luck to the Ridgeline Regiment at the State Marching Band competition in Eugene, OR!
Impress your neighbors with your knowledge, read the Flyer!
Make it a great weekend! --Mr. Hardt
Student Services
AP Testing
AP testing decision deadline is next Friday, November 8th. All AP teachers have provided students with a testing decision form. If your student does not return this form to each of their AP Teachers by November 8th, an AP Test will be ordered for them at the cost of $100 each. If you have any questions, please contact your student's AP Teacher(s). One Testing Decision Form is required for each class.
Each AP Exam has a fee of $100.
Registered Free/Reduced will have a reduced fee of $15. If there are financial concerns please contact your student’s counselor.
Exams canceled after November 8th but before March 15th will be fined $40 and the student’s account will be refunded $60. This includes dropping the course at semester. A drop form must be completed after the mid November date.
Tests canceled after March 15th will not be refunded for any portion of the exam cost.
Late exam orders after November 8th will also incur a $40 additional charge. Total charge of a late ordered exam will be $140.
AP fees will be posted by December 2nd. These fees are expected to be paid by the end of 1st semester (January 31st).
SAVE THE DATE(S)
ALTERNATE/LATE TEST POLICY: At Ridgeline High School, we do not offer AP Late exams unless the student (1) has an athletic contest directly during the test, or (2) if the student is wanting to take two exams that are offered at the same time.

Our Annual trunk or treat was a huge success, and all candy from the candy drive was used! A huge thank you to all of our students who hosted trunks at last night. We had 33 student cars, a ton of kids, and so much fun.
Green Team
Green Team hosted is annual Pumpkin Painting this week! We usually grow our pumpkins at the Community Garden over the summer, but we faced challenges this growing season. We are so grateful to Patrick Rogers' mom, who donated pumpkins from her farm, "The Farmhouse on Greenbluff" to us this year!
Remember, we have Green Team every Wednesday after school in C109. See Ms. Larsen for more info.
Graphic Arts 1 class designers
Check out these spooky, funny, creative, and festive haunted house and harvest designs from the Graphic Arts 1 classes. The students used their increasing Photoshop skills and tools to create these original works (using various photos from the Internet) piecing together the perfect Haunted House, or Harvest Scene themes. We celebrated their project completion today by sharing their work through a classroom Gallery Walk and voting process. They voted for the most scary, most funny, and best overall effect in each class. The winners are pictured with their design in this video. All of the students were so creative, did quality work, and most importantly, had fun using the skills they have learned in Graphic Arts 1 to create this quick fun project. Great job, Falcon graphic designers! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Positive Impacts of Our New Cell Phone / Personal Device Policy
We’re excited to share some encouraging results from the first 8 weeks of our new cell phone and personal device policy. Since implementing this policy, we’ve noticed a significant positive shift in our classrooms, and our teachers are noticing the impact firsthand. In a recent staff survey, the overwhelming majority agreed that the policy has improved student engagement and focus, creating a better learning environment.
Many teachers have shared specific examples of how this policy has enhanced learning. One teacher noted, “I have a lot more students hearing the directions, content, and peer discussion, which leads to less late or incomplete assignments and higher assessment scores.” Another teacher shared, “My students are making more progress faster and gaining more depth in class.” This improvement in focus has also led to better behavior in the classroom, with one teacher stating, “The overall on-task behavior is higher than in years past.”
Nearly all teachers agree that the reduction of personal devices has helped students stay present and attentive, which allows them to benefit more from each class. With fewer distractions, students are more connected to both their lessons and their peers, creating a more collaborative and positive environment.
We’re grateful for your support in helping us create an atmosphere that prioritizes student learning and growth. This partnership between families and staff is making a difference, and we look forward to seeing continued benefits for our students throughout the year.
