Holy Rosary
NEWSLETTER | TERM 2| WEEK 7| 13 JUNE 2025
This weekend, we celebrate the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity - an opportunity to renew and deepen our worship and love for God. The Trinity - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - is a sacred mystery. It’s something so profound that even in Heaven, we will never fully understand the depth of God’s inner being. Only God truly knows Himself. Not even the Blessed Virgin Mary or the highest angels see Him as He sees Himself. Still, we are all invited - angels and humans alike - to explore and reflect on this mystery as much as we can. In doing so, we come to understand our purpose and experience the joy and peace that only God can give.
He alone satisfies the longing of every heart.
Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning is now,
and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen
Dear Parents, Friends, Guardians, and Staff,
I hope you’ve had a wonderful week! A huge congratulations to Valentine M, Isabella B, and Addison W for being winners in their respective year levels in this year’s Italian Festival Primary School Students’ Competition. Grazie mille to Signora Peccia for her dedication and support of our students in this achievement.
At last night’s P&F meeting, we were pleased to welcome the Honourable Member for Churchlands, Basil Zempilas, who expressed his enthusiasm for supporting our school and community events. We are grateful for his reconfirmation of the $60,000 commitment towards new water fountains.
Our P&F team, led by the amazing Rose, continues to do a fantastic job. We’re all looking forward to the upcoming school disco - if you’re available to help on the night, your support would be greatly appreciated!
One of our key focus areas is building strong, positive relationships. Our Friendology program plays a vital role in this, and we encourage all parents to engage with the available online sessions to learn more about how it supports your children.
Over the past week, I’ve been closely monitoring the responses regarding swimming lessons, and I must say - it was more engaging and evenly split than a West Coast Eagles game!
Out of 222 responses, the results were exactly 50:50. These findings were presented to the School Advisory Committee (SAC), who had anticipated a clearer outcome. Given the lack of a substantial majority in support of introducing in-school swimming lessons, the SAC unanimously voted not to proceed with implementing them at this time. I will revisit this topic in three years.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their views.
In other news, the SAC has approved fencing upgrades to enhance student safety and site access. Soon, the rear/hall car park gates will be auto-locking between 9:10 AM and 2:55 PM. An intercom system will be installed under security cameras to allow parent access during school hours.
We’ve also observed the growing influence of social media on student interactions. We strongly encourage parents to monitor their children’s online activity outside of school and to adhere to the recommended minimum age requirements for social media platforms.
Student safety is a shared responsibility. Please continue to follow all road rules in our car parks and surrounding streets to help keep our precious children safe.
Kind regards,
Michael O'Dwyer
Principal
🚗 A Friendly Reminder About School Pick-Up Parking
We kindly ask all parents and carers to please avoid parking in the yellow-marked zones of the school car park during pick-up and drop-off times. These areas are designated as no parking zones to help keep traffic flowing safely and smoothly for everyone.
When cars stop or park in these areas, it can cause unnecessary congestion and create safety risks for students and families.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us keep our car park safe and efficient.

Containers for Change: Helping the Planet and Our School
We’re excited to be part of the growing number of schools across WA taking part in the Containers for Change programme! This initiative encourages students, families and staff to make recycling a regular habit—whether it’s on school grounds, at home or in the local community.
By taking part in Containers for Change, Holy Rosary has a great opportunity to make a real difference. We can help the environment by recycling and reducing waste that goes to landfill, while also teaching students about how recycling works and why it’s important. It’s a great way to raise money for school projects and support local causes. Along the way, we’ll be encouraging positive habits that can lead to a better future, keeping our school and community cleaner and giving the Year 2s and Year 5s students a chance to take on leadership roles and show responsibility.
School Donation Point
A large Containers for Change collection bin has been placed in the carpark beside the Kiss and Drive area. This allows families and members of the community to conveniently drop off eligible recyclable containers. The collected items will be returned through the programme, helping us raise valuable funds to support our school.
Let’s work together to give drink containers a second life and make a real difference for our school and our planet!
Celebrating Our Students' Success at the Italian Festival!

A reminder that Holy Rosary is now a URStrong school and families have access to a whole range of resources. We are already seeing some amazing changes, especially in the playground, and we encourage you look at the information provided below so you can also support your children with healthy friendships.
URSTRONG’s whole-school friendship strategy has improved the social climate in schools around the world, connecting over a million kids, parents, and teachers with a common language of friendship. We are proud to be a URSTRONG School and are committed to empowering your children with friendship skills.
You are invited to take advantage of a FREE Parent Membership to access hundreds of resources – including an 8 session video series. This will allow you to learn the same language & strategies being taught in the classroom through the Friendology 101 curriculum. The Scholastic Book Fair re-orders have arrived and have been delivered to your children yesterday. Apologies for the delay and thank you for your patience.
The Senior Chess Tournament plays Round 4 next week. As always, it is wonderful to see the high levels of sportsmanship as well as kindness and resilience during and after games.
Years 1, 2 and 3 can sign up for the Junior Chess Tournament from next week, and it will start in Term 3. Children who sign up for the Tournament are expected to play. Lots of preparation goes into planning the rounds and it is disappointing for players when their opponent does not show up. Please support your children by explaining to them that once they sign up, they are committed to play.
Practising chess with them over the holidays so that they know the basic rules is also a great idea. I have many chess books in the library to borrow and there is also lots of information online. Here is a link to a good website. https://www.chesskid.com/learn/articles
Good luck!
