MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Good Day All,
I’m so glad to report that our 8th grade students had an amazing field trip this past Thursday visiting college/university campuses. I want to give a big shout out to Mr. Penny, Ms. Christianson, Ms. Ash and our secretaries Abbey, Raquel & Esme for coordinating the event that required moving 250 students, 10 staff members, 7 buses, and 9 campus contacts. Students enjoyed the experience and we heard back from several that they can totally see themselves going to school there. Well done team in creating such a meaningful experience!
The implementation of our district secondary school cell phone/electronics policy has been very successful. Please continue to support your student in creating a distraction free environment by refraining from texting them during the school day. We are more than happy to get a message delivered to them throughout the day. On the technology note, parenting in the digital age is not easy and with the addition of AI it is not going to get any easier. We do know that education, guidance and safeguards help keep our kids safe. It is well understood that unrestricted use causes harm. Please use this resource for guidance on how to talk with your student and this resource for possible phone fundamentals.
Please be aware that the company we use to coordinate bus transportation, STA, is short bus drivers which is leading to late pick ups and drop offs. This is frustrating for all of us, but please ensure when communicating with our building support staff that we are doing so kindly and patiently. Our front office staff have no control over this matter and are always happy to communicate information with you as soon as they know it.
Lastly, we hope you ALL join us in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month on Wednesday, October 16th starting at 5pm. We will have performances, food and fun for all! And last, lastly, please see information below regarding Family Partnership Days (aka conferences).

Mark your calendars
Family Partnership Conferences!
Fowler’s Family Partnership Conferences will be held Arena Style at the following times:
Wednesday, October 23, 4:30-7:15pm
Thursday, October 24, 8:00am-11:15am
Thursday, October 24, 12:30-3:15pm
Thursday, October 24, 4:30-7:15pm
At Arena style Family Partnership Conferences you will find 6th grade teachers available in the Commons, while 7th and 8th grade teachers, as well as most elective teachers, will be set up in the Gym. There are a few exceptions which will be posted in the Commons. Teacher spaces will be labeled with signs to assist you in locating those you wish to see. We do encourage students to attend with their parents/guardians, but it is not required. We also recommend that you bring a list of your child’s teachers so that you know who to visit.
Arena style conferences are first come, first serve. We do ask that you limit your conversations to no longer than 10 minutes so that all families have the same opportunity to meet with teachers. If you find that you need more time, please set up a separate meeting time with the teacher.
Need Translation Services?
If you need translation services for Family Partnership Conferences, please contact Victor Romo, our Family Partnership Advocate, prior to this Friday, October 18th and he will assist you in securing a translator for your conference. vromo@ttsd.k12.or.us or (503)431-5054.
