The Fowler Weekly
November 11-15, 2024
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Good Day All,
As we come to the end of Quarter one I’m thankful for all the support from staff, students and families! The open communication between all parties has made such a positive impact on our day to day operations. One method to gather feedback is through surveys. Please take about 10 minutes to fill out our family input survey. The information is linked below.
Please review the following information regarding student iPad filters. Starting Monday, November 18th, the internet filter settings on student iPads will adjust to support focused, educational use during evenings:
New Filter Time: 5:30 PM - 6:00 AM
Available Resources: Educational sites like Canvas, Google Docs, and other instructional tools to support at-home schoolwork.
Restricted Access: Streaming sites and high-screen-time platforms, like YouTube, will be unavailable during these hours.
This change aims to reduce distractions and encourage productive study habits. If you have questions, please reach out.
All students have a fresh start with grades beginning on Tuesday, 11/12, so please speak with your students about making Q2 even better than Q1. Our teachers are going to be ramping up the work and expecting a bit more, so please check Canvas frequently. If you have any questions please feel free to contact their teacher(s) directly.
Lastly, I’d like to express my heartfelt thanks to all those who have chosen to serve in the military. As a veteran of the Navy, I know when someone acknowledges your service, it means something! I hope you all take a moment during Veteran’s Day to say, “thank you,” to someone you know who has served.

HAPPENINGS
Thank you for your sacrifices, protecting our country and allowing us to live in freedom.
Tuesday morning we begin Quarter 2. For the majority of our students, there is no change to their schedule. For 6th graders who have a shift in their wheel schedule, our teachers have already communicated the change to the students, and will be ready to make sure all students land where they need to be.
After School Activities (ASA) will wrap up next Thursday, November 21. Homework Help will continue to meet, but will take a hiatus until Monday, December 2. There will be no Homework Help or Affinity Groups meeting Monday, November 25 and Tuesday, November 26.
This week we will review safety procedures for both Secure & Lockdown conditions. On Wednesday our whole school will have a practice Lockdown Drill. We understand that safety drills can sometimes cause anxiety for some of our students. However, it is important for everyone in the school to understand what to do in the event of a true emergency situation. During drills such as a Lockdown, a sign will be posted on the front doors notifying parents and other community members that a drill is in progress. During this time, no one will be allowed to enter or exit the school building. Please talk to your child about the importance of taking all safety drills seriously and following all safety protocols as well as instructions from adults.
For 6th grade students who attended Metzger, check out this opportunity!
Fowler Ambassador: Metzger Elementary 2024-2025
The Student Ambassador Program connects 6th grade middle school students with elementary school kids, creating a supportive and fun environment for learning and growth. In this program, middle schoolers take on the role of mentors, helping younger students with their studies, guiding them through school activities, and fostering friendships. Ambassadors develop valuable leadership skills while making a positive impact on their local community. The Ambassador program is set to start on Wednesday, November 13th.You will volunteer your time to help a classroom at Metzger on Wednesday mornings from 7:45-8:45 am.

PBIS SCHOOL CLIMATE SURVEY
Families and Caregivers: We want to hear about your experience with your student’s education. We invite you to participate in the School Climate Survey for Fowler Middle School. The survey includes questions about your student’s learning, school safety, and school relationships, as well as how you feel about the school environment and your personal involvement with the school. Your responses will be very helpful in improving student relationships, learning conditions, and the overall school environment.
All your responses are completely anonymous. We have no way to know your answers and the results of this survey will only be reported as group responses. There are no right or wrong answers. We just want to know about your personal experiences. As you answer each question, think about your experiences with Fowler Middle School. Please answer all questions or your answers won’t be recorded. You can mark “I prefer not to answer” if you do not want to answer a question about you.
We invite all caretakers to complete this survey for our school. The survey is anonymous and brief. It contains 21 questions and will take about 10-15 minutes to complete. You can take the survey online.
The link to complete the survey is https://www.pbisassessment.org/Anon/RG800DUZ4W0
Thank you for your time and participation!
Though survey results are anonymous, families are given the option for their students to opt-out of participation. If you would like to opt your student out, please contact Raquel Trujano, our bilingual secretary at rtrujano@ttsd.k12.or.us. Although our hope is that everyone will take the survey, we will honor requests to opt out. Thank you!
