August 9th Update
Weekly newsletter for all things EHS
Community Update from Principal Griffin
Dear Erie High School families,
We have had a great week at Erie High School as we welcomed back our full faculty on Tuesday. Our teachers, counselors, staff, and administration are so excited for the new school year, and we look forward to seeing all the incredible learning and growth that our students will enjoy over the course of this year.
I appreciate your commitment to reading this weekly newsletter throughout the course of the year. In addition to my weekly letter, our newsletter will share timely, important updates and many celebrations of the outstanding achievements of our students both and out of the classroom!
As we set out to begin the new year for the Class of 2028 on Tuesday and all students on Wednesday, it is important for our students to focus on a strong start to the year. It is far easier to maintain grades over the course of the semester than it is to raise them. In order to achieve a strong start to the school year, I encourage all students to set consistent routines for on-time arrival at school, consistent attendance, and a high level of engagement in academic, athletic, and co-curricular pursuits.
Coming out of the pandemic several years ago, as the result of a loss of many of our treasured school routines and traditions, I recall a renewed zeal from students, faculty, staff, and families for the return to traditional, high quality, in-person learning opportunities for our students. In the Erie community, it is vital that we maintain this commitment to the immense benefits of in-person learning and school experiences.
Our students enjoy rich and meaningful personal, academic, social, artistic, and athletic experiences in the course of the school day, and they develop impactful relationships with their peers, teachers, counselors, support staff members, coaches, and administrators. These experiences cannot be recreated without attending and engaging in school. I am so grateful for the strong partnership of our parents, guardians, and families, in setting clear expectations and providing robust support to our students to attend and meaningfully engage in school throughout the course of this school year.
I am very excited to see our students back in action at school next week. I hope that you and your family enjoy a fantastic weekend and I look forward to greeting our students and kicking off a great year next week!
Sincerely,
Josh Griffin
Erie High School Principal
