Kindergarten and Focus Schools Enrollment Open November 25th
For the 2025-26 school year, we are excited to introduce three unique elementary school models: Bridges Community School (Global Studies), Jefferson Elementary (Outdoor/Nature-Based), and Rosa Parks (STEAM).
Our enrollment process will open on November 25th. To learn more about this process, visit our Focus School webpage.
Application Process and Timeline
Selecting the right school for your child is an important decision! We encourage families to tour our focus schools to find the best fit. Contact your desired school to arrange a tour. All late applications (submitted after the window closes) are automatically added to the waitlist, and students may be admitted from the waitlist until July 15.
School Year: 2025-26
Application Window: November 25, 2024 - January 24, 2025
Notification of Enrollment to all Families: February 14, 2025
Deadline to Accept or Decline Accepted Applications:* March 1
*If you do not accept the enrollment seat your child has been awarded by the March 1st, 2025 deadline, the seat will be offered to the next applicant on the waitlist.
Submit your application by January 24, 2025, through our Infinite Campus Online Parent Portal.

Winter Weather Information
Winter weather will be here soon, so it’s a good idea to have a plan for your family in case of school closings, early dismissals, or late starts.
Notices for school closings and early dismissals will be posted on the following websites, radio, and television stations. You can also hear a recorded message on the District Notification Line at 507-387-6046.

New Check Deposit Process
If you are writing a check to any program or school within MAPS, please make checks payable to one of the following:
- Mankato Area School District
- ISD 77
- Mankato Area Public School District
Please note that checks can no longer be made out to individual schools, student activity accounts, MAPS, Nutrition Services, Community Education, CER, or other variations. This will help ensure your payments are processed smoothly and accurately.

Kennedy Elementary Recognized as a National ESEA Distinguished School
We are proud to announce that Kennedy Elementary School that it has been recommended by the Minnesota Department of Education to the National Association of ESEA State Program Administrators (NAESPA) as a National ESEA Distinguished School. This recognition highlights the exceptional achievements of Kennedy’s students, teachers, and administrators.
As one of only two Minnesota schools being honored in 2024, Kennedy Elementary has earned recognition for its outstanding academic progress and commitment to closing achievement gaps. Schools are selected for their exceptional student performance, efforts to close achievement gaps, or excellence in serving special populations.

Bond Referendum Update - West High School
West High School Renovations
Phase one renovations at Mankato West High School:
Secure Entrance: Construction in front of the building will begin in Spring 2025.
Demolition: Asbestos abatement will occur in spring 2025. The choir room, pool area, wrestling room and weight room/fitness area will be torn down after school is done in June of 2025.
Timeline for Completion: The new entrance is scheduled to open in Fall 2026. The fine arts, gymnasium and classroom spaces are set to open at the beginning of the 2027-2028 school year.
Impacts During West High School Construction Projects
West Auditorium: Will be used as a classroom space and unavailable to the public during the construction period.
Parking: Additional parking will be created across Pleasant Avenue
Tennis Courts: After the Spring 2025 season, Scarlet tennis will be relocated.
