Dear Parents/Carers,
Busy, busy, busy! This week we have joined lots of other schools online to hear stories for Black History Month at the Big Live Assembly. We discussed the importance of sharing our own stories so that others don’t re-tell them in a different way.
Sherburn Library attended worship on Wednesday to give out the Summer Reading Challenge certificates so well done to all of the children that took part.
Thursday saw us pay a visit to St Mary’s for our Harvest Festival service. We attended in two groups and everyone was incredibly impressed by the behaviour of the children and the poems, songs and prayers they delivered. One of our governors who is
attached to the church said “They were a real credit to the school”. I felt very proud to be your headteacher!
Our Friday worship had some special visitors. Two of our children went to Germany for the World Martial Arts Championships. It was wonderful to hear all about it and we had a real treat as they also brought in their medals to show us (see below).
Time to rest and recharge for the final week before half term.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mel Walmsley

Message from Head Pupils
This week there have been lots of things going on around school. For starters, this week we celebrated the harvest festival, so children have been bringing in food which we are going to donate to the Selby food bank. Also, Yesterday we had an amazing visit to church and sang all of our favourite harvest songs. Finally, on Tuesday we watched a live worship all about black history month and the importance of black heroes. Have a good weekend everyone!

Champion Pupils
Darcey and Finnbar attended the ICO world championship.
They both competed in multiple categories and performed amazingly. Finnbar is now a silver medal holder in 7-9 coloured belt freestyle forms and a bronze medal holder in creative weapons 10 years coloured belts.
Darcey received a joint second place in 8-10 year creative forms and eventually took the bronze medal after having to compete a second time to secure her place.
They have both shown a huge amount of perseverance and an incredible show of humility and good sportsmanship. Well done!
