Community Update Week of Nov 18th
Sharing information for the Wootton High School community.
A Message from Mr. Nelson
Good Afternoon Wootton Community,
Over the summer, Wootton experienced school facility upgrades. This included the school being painted, bathroom upgrades, improvements to the auditorium, and ADA upgrades to campus grounds. This was phase one of a two year project. Please consider attending the PTSA meeting on Tuesday, November 19th at 7PM. We need the Wootton community to be engaged with this project. The PTSA will host guests from the MCPS Division of Planning, Design and Construction to share the options for the new bus loop to be constructed over the summer. This is your opportunity to see the options and provide feedback to the MCPS Division of Planning, Design and Construction project team so they can finalize the design and move forward with permitting: click here to join the Zoom.
Graduation Validation (GV) is an MCPS requirement. Annually, the GV Team reviews the profile of every students to verify a student is on track to graduate. This intentional process supports Wootton's high graduation rate. Part of the process requires us to share information with Wootton families. GV letters are being prepared to be sent out to students in the classes of 2025 and 2026. You will be receiving a letter in the mail outlining the current remaining requirements your child needs to graduate from MCPS. This is just a summary letter to make you aware of what your child has left in regards to courses, student service learning hours and Maryland state testing. If you have any questions about the letter please contact your child’s counselor or administrator.
Respectfully,
Doug

Attendance Is Important!
Regular daily attendance is expected. It is critical to a child's academic success. Parent/caregiver support of regular daily attendance is essential. Parents/caregivers should provide a note within 3 days stating the reason for absence. This will ensure the absence is marked excused. Students who were absent from school have the responsibility to request make-up work from their teacher.
