We had a blast celebrating all of our students' growth at the Growth Parade on Friday! We appreciate the support and encouragement you give your child every day. We also had fun at the EOG Pep Rally!!! Congratulations to fifth grade for winning the EOG Jeopardy game and fourth grade for winning the Spirit stick and best behavior!

Our next required proctor training is on Tuesday, May 28 at 5:00. Test days are May 29, June 4 and June 6. Proctors have to be 18 years old. Proctors do not have to be fingerprinted.

Our 3rd grade students will take the Reading End of Grade test and our 5th grade students will take the Science End of the Grade test on Wednesday, May 29. On Tuesday, June 4 our 4th and 5th grade students will take the Reading End of Grade test and 3rd graders who did not reach proficiency during the year will take the Read to Achieve Test. On Thursday, June 6 all 3rd-5th grade students will take the Math End of Grade test. We want our students to shine and show what they know. They need to get a good night's rest, eat a healthy breakfast and arrive on time.

Our chorus students are preforming The Lion King on Friday, May 31 at 6pm and Saturday, June 1 at 2pm. They have worked extremely hard on this performance and would love for you to attend. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased by clicking the link https://tinyurl.com/musical2024

New Onslow County Policy:

For the safety of our students, no vehicles are to be on campus more that 30 minutes prior to dismissal. Dismissal starts at 3:15; therefore, cars should not be parked for dismissal prior to 2:45. Please drive slowly when arriving on campus. There will be five orange cones placed for each car to stop, so students can be let out by a staff member. You will pull forward and a staff member will load your child. Staff members will not buckle your child in their seat; however, they will open the car door for them.

You will need your child's Powerschool number in order to set up an account and access the bus information. Your child's teacher will have your child's Powerschool number at Orientation.

All parents are encouraged to sign up for Parent Portal. You can monitor attendance within the Portal and you can see your child's grades, assignments & due dates for students in grades 3-5. Parent Involvement Opportunities

Are you a parent looking for ways to contribute to Summersill Elementary? There are several opportunities for parents to get involved and support our Eagle family. Please review each opportunity below.

* Parent Teacher Organization: This group meets in person and sends in special treats for staff throughout the year

* Parent Volunteer: Parents have to be volunteered trained each year and fingerprinted at the district office every five years

* Room Parent: Assists the teacher with various things for the classroom

* Strategic Planning Team: School stakeholders (parents, teachers, administration) work together to improve the school
