SEVENTH GRADE DANCE - MARDI GRAS MAMBO
The seventh grade dance is finalized for Saturday, January 21st, from 7:00 to 10:00 pm in the Gym. The National Junior Honor Society is sponsoring the dance. The cost per person of the dance is $10 which covers the cost of the DJ. The 7th graders will receive more information this week.
Mardi Gras colors and shirts are definitely welcomed, but must meet the general dress code guidelines listed below:
GIRLS: Dressy casual dresses or skirts - must be as near as possible to 2 inches above the knee - inappropriately short hemlines are not allowed. Dresses or shirts that are strapless or have bare shoulders or have spaghetti straps are not allowed. Girls do not have to wear dresses; they may wear dress pants.
BOYS: Collared polo or dress shirts; dockers or dress pants.
If you have any questions about the attire, please do not hesitate to contact Coach Gay at: gknock@saintmmschool.org. You may also send her a picture of an outfit for approval. Students not in compliance with the dress code will be asked to go home and change. Thank you for your cooperation.

SMM Launched NASA Astro Camp
St. Margaret Mary School launched its first NASA Astro Camp in mid-January as a Community Partner with NASA Education Specialists from Stennis Space Center. Lisa Ramirez was trained as our facilitator and will use her weekly K-7 class time to introduce NASA, past and present, and complete several grade appropriate design, engineering, rocketry and coding projects. Our Junior and Senior Coding and Robotics Teams will also be using the NASA Astro Camp resources and challenges. Our first project is the Mission Patch activity that requires all students to imagine their own mission and collaborate on their crew’s mission patch graphic design.
Lisa has also been working with Wendy Conarro on available STEM resources and mentoring opportunities through the Northshore STEM Coalition, attending events at Southeastern University and Northshore Technical Community College.
