Classroom Communication
Weekly Newsletter: I plan to send my classroom newsletter each week by Sunday evening at 8pm. I try to keep these short, but there is important information regarding what students are learning as well as different events happening at Lyon!
Email Policy: I will respond to email within 24 hours Monday - Friday. I will typically respond during my plan time or before/after school after receiving an email from you.
Take Home Folders: Your child will bring home a take home folder each day. These folders will contain daily work and any other relevant paperwork (permission slips, photo envelopes, etc.). Papers in the "keep at home" side can be taken out and reviewed with your child. If you have any notes or lunch money to send to school, please place them in the "return to school" side. I check take home folders every daily and place papers for students to take home every afternoon.
Seesaw: Seesaw is a learning platform that allows each child to create a digital portfolio of work completed in 3rd Grade. Students will make posts in Seesaw to share their writing, reading, or explain their thinking. I will also share photos of our class learning through Seesaw. I will share out your child's Seesaw information to have you connect with their account this week. Please let me know if you have any issues connecting!

Free & Reduced Lunch Application - ALL FAMILIES
The application for free/reduced meals is also now available through the SISK12 Parent Portal. Take note, qualifications for this benefit may have changed. While this application was not required for the last two school years, it must be filled out to utilize this benefit during the 2022-2023 school year.
Even if your family does not anticipate qualifying for discounted meals, the free/reduced meal status of our students provides many other opportunities outside of meals. As noted in the graphic above, the percentage of students who qualify for free/reduced meals in our district allows our schools to receive important federal funding that supports student literacy growth, Leader in Me resources and various programs that provide needs for our most at-risk learners.
Our goal is to get 100% of these forms returned by August 10, which is when online registration also closes. Go to https://rb.sisk12.net/RB360x3/parent to complete yours form!
Each class will earn an EXTRA RECESS when they reach 90% of students with a completed Free/Reduced Lunch Application!
