Hello McPherson Families,
Thank you to everyone who made our Spring Carnival a success! This week, we have Kindergarten and 8th grade promotion pictures on Tuesday and a PTSA Ice cream Social on Wednesday evening. Please check the newsletter for more information on our upcoming College and Career Fair, the Community Science Night and more. Also, a friendly reminder for students to be in the correct school uniform every day!

UNIFORM REMINDER
Spring is coming which means warmer weather. Just a reminder that students need to wear their McPherson uniform every day. We have had many free dress days and rainy weather so I know some students are out of the habit. School-designated uniform logo tops may be purchased at our logowear vendor Kustom Imprints. You may also purchase a plain, SOLID gray, light blue, or navy polo shirt from a uniform store or department. If purchasing from any store other than Kustom Imprints, the polo shirts must be plain with NO logos. School-designated uniform bottoms should be purchased at a uniform store or uniform department, such as Kustom Imprints, Dennis Uniform, J.J. Fashions, Target, Wal-Mart, etc. All Fridays are designated as “School Spirit Shirt” days. Any McPherson team, activity, or spirit shirt may be worn at this time. Students who participate in a nationally recognized youth organization shall be allowed to wear organization uniforms on days when the organization has scheduled meetings. (Ed Code 35183). (See Uniform Guidelines and Policies on the McPherson Webpage under “Uniforms”) The first Wednesday of each month is designated as “College Shirt/Sweatshirt” day. We look forward to seeing our McPherson Meteors wearing their proper uniforms.
Kindergarten & 8th Grade Promotion Pictures
Kindergarten and 8th Grade Promotion pictures & 8th Grade Panoramic Pictures will be taken on Tuesday, April 15.
The promotion pictures for Kindergarten and 8th-grade students are placed in a nice portfolio and given to the students on the last day of school. The portfolio picture is at no cost, however, you can order additional pictures from Pictures With Class. Order forms will be coming home, and they have your student's name on them.
This is a FREE DRESS in your BEST Dress for Success for Kindergarten and 8th grade only.
This is NOT blue jeans, casual free dress day. There are NO make-up pictures.

College & Career Fair
Attention McPherson Community. We will be having a College and Career Fair on Tuesday, April 22 from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm. The date was changed. If you would like to be a presenter or a volunteer at the College and Career Fair, please complete the linked survey below at your earliest convenience. 8TH GRADE PARENTS - PLEASE RESPOND

OUSD Drug Prevention Workshop
Get up-to-date information and strategies to guide your children toward healthy choices! Please open the attached flyer regarding a district-wide drug prevention presentation by OCDE.
This session will be held on April 22 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the OUSD District Board Rooms located at 1401 N. Handy Street, Orange.
ELAC Meeting Information
ELAC Meetings this year are scheduled for September 30, October 28, January 27, and April 28. Meetings review the resources available for all our English learners and ways to help support students in succeeding. All families are invited to attend.

FREE MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH TUTORING
We are excited to offer math tutoring BEFORE school for all middle school students on Wednesdays. This is a great opportunity for students to get extra help with math assignments, prepare for tests, or simply improve their math skills. No sign-up necessary. These are drop in tutoring sessions.
When: Every Wednesday morning from 7:15am to 8:00am (Starting September 5)
Where: Mr. Castro's Room #107
Who: Any 6th, 7th or 8th grade student
Campus Volunteer Procedures
At McPherson, we value a partnership with parents and families and we want you to take an active role in your child's education. We do have an expectation that every family will contribute ten hours of volunteer time every year. There are many ways to volunteer throughout the year but if you intend to volunteer on campus during the year (classroom help, parties, field trips, etc) we must have you complete OUSD's volunteer application. You can complete this now and it will be good for the entire school year. The majority of our campus volunteers will be working 5 hours or less on campus so you will only need to complete the requirements listed under #1 and #2 on the links below. Please call the office if you have any questions regarding the volunteer application process.
