Fisher Family Update
October 4, 2024

Good Afternoon Fisher Families,
The teachers and I would like to extend our gratitude to all of you for attending last night’s Curriculum Night. Your presence helped to make the evening a great success, and we appreciate your commitment to your student's education.
Curriculum Night is a valuable opportunity for us to share important information about our curricular and educational goals and expectations. The partnership between home and school is instrumental in the success of our students and we look forward to working with you throughout the year to provide each child with the very best educational experience possible.
If you were unable to attend last night’s program and would like to learn more about the curriculum for your child(ren)’s grade level(s), or if you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher or me and will be happy to speak with you.
Once again, thank you for your presence and your ongoing support.
Have a great weekend,
Brian

Fisher School - School of Recognition
As part of its annual accountability reporting process, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education identifies a small number of Schools of Recognition. Fisher School has been recognized as a 2024 School of Recognition! Schools of Recognition demonstrate high achievement and high growth and meet or exceed accountability targets. Fisher School is a school of recognition based on our overall performance relative to other schools that administer similar assessments and is calculated using MCAS scores, Student Growth Percentage (MCAS data), Chronic Absenteeism, Growth toward English Language Proficiency and Assessment Participation.
Great work Educators, Staff, Students and Families!
Bus Expectations
So far this year, there have been numerous reports across various buses of unsafe and unexpected behaviors on the bus. In reviewing some of the video footage of the buses I can confirm that our students need some explicit reminders about expected bus behaviors specifically:
- Safe riding- Students should be sitting in their seats the whole ride and only getting up when it is their stop and their hands should never be on another student for any reason
- Safe volume- Students should use quiet voices to talk to their seat partners and those close to them
- Respectful language - Students should be using kind words and may not swear or use violent/harmful language towards others

Scenes from Fisher!
During a SWIM lesson in Mrs. Blakes class, students practiced team work to try to get a hula hoop around the classroom without breaking the chain. It was great to see students working together and cheering on classmates as they figured out new strategies to get through the hoop
Third grade students going on a measuring scavenger hunt. The students were searching for measurements using rulers and measuring tapes. They were using centimeters to find their objects
This week in STEM, some students celebrated the beauty and uniqueness of their names after reading the story That's Not My Name by Anoosha Syed. These students were challenged to successfully build each individual letter of their name using Brain Flakes. Here are some of the amazing results!
