BURRESON TO BE HONORED WITH RANDALL AWARD
Our sincerest congratulations to #PointerNation Head Boys Basketball Coach Dan Burreson who has been announced as this year's recipient of the prestigious Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Steve Randall Award!
The award is given annually to one coach who best displays the attributes of integrity, passion, and professionalism possessed by Randall, who passed away in 2004 from heart surgery complications. During his career, Steve compiled a stellar coaching career at Turtle Lake, Iowa-Grant, and Oshkosh West.
Coach Burreson led the 2024 Pointer Boys Basketball team to our first-ever WIAA State Championship in March, was named the WBCA State Boys Coach of the Year this spring, is a WBCA Hall of Fame Member, WBCA Hall of Fame Selection Chair, and WBCA Executive Board Member.

College: Ross earned his Bachelor’s in Psychology from UW-Madison.
Previous employment: Ross has been serving this summer as a Pointer Kids Club Assistant, as well as helping the district out as a Specialized Transportation Assistant the second half of last school year.
Hobbies/free time interests: Spending time with friends and family, taking a drive while listening to music, video games, and am a HUGE foodie!
What attracted you to apply in #PointerNation?: Wanting to make a difference in children’s lives in the community I grew up in.
Quotable: “I have previous employment as an ABA Therapist with a Registered Behavior Technician certification. During my career as an ABA Therapist, I provided evidence-based therapy to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities. As someone who enjoys working with children of all ages and learning capabilities, I feel I am an excellent fit for this position.”

Graduating high school GPA is consistently the strongest predictor of 4-year college outcome for all academic disciplines, campuses, and freshman cohorts.
COLLEDGE UP CREDITS
We'd like to continue featuring more of our accomplishments from the 2023-24 school year! For measures that matter, 49 students participated last school year, earning 305 credits, in the CollEDGE Up Program!
This is a partnership with Southwest Tech that creates pathways toward careers. Pathways include: Criminal Justice, Education, General Education, Nursing, Mechanics, Lab Science, CNC Operator, EMT/Firefighter.
We are proud to prepare our Pointers for whatever path they choose following graduation!

Alumni Alert! Hail to our Cornish Queen, Sandy Weitzel! Sandy has been named a highly prestigious Cornish Bard "for services to Cornish Identity in the USA." A proud #PointerNation school employee for decades, Sandy was fundamental in getting our student exchange program thriving with Redruth School.
Sandy will be the only bard from the entire USA to be inducted this year!
New bards will be welcomed into the College of Bards of Gorsedh Kernow at Callington by the Grand Bard of Cornwall, Pol Hodge, Mab Stenak Veur, in recognition of their outstanding work in serving Cornwall on September 7.

-- The Musical Theatre Club is still searching for a Master Builder! The Master Builder is responsible for the procuring and/or building of backdrops, furniture, and other large set pieces during the majority of the fall musical season. Two weeks before the show opens, they help to move these pieces into the venue, and are in charge of managing the backstage crew of students. At the end of the show season, they help to strike the pieces and move out of the venue. Because of these duties, the Master Builder should have their own power tools, have access to a space to build prior to move-in, be willing to collaborate creatively with the other directors as needed, and keep student safety a priority. For the Fall 2024 season, we are producing "Big Fish: School Edition" at the Mineral Point Opera House. Move-in takes place on Sunday 11/10, shows will take place on Friday 11/22 7pm, Saturday 11/23 7pm, and Sunday 11/24 1:30pm, and move-out takes place directly after the final show. 2. There will be no in-person registration day to pay for students’ school fees. All fees can be paid through Fee Management, or you can still drop payment off at school if you prefer to not pay online.

FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME NIGHT
A reminder to join us for this year's #PointerNation Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony! Friday, August 30 at halftime of the home game vs. Platteville, we will recognize the accomplishments of our 1967 team.
All Hall of Fame members, their families, and MPHS Football alumni are invited to a pregame tailgate at Soldiers Memorial Park from 4:30-6:30 pm. Food and drinks will be available courtesy of the Gridiron Club. There will also a reception at Dodge-Point Country Club after the game.
