We Need Your Support!

One of our important responsibilities as a school is to help students understand the growing impact of their words as they mature. As part of this process, students occasionally need reminders about the importance of respectful communication.

Recently, we have noticed an increase in the use of inappropriate language on campus. Unfortunately, this sometimes includes derogatory terms related to race, sexual orientation, and other sensitive topics.

We ask for your partnership in addressing this issue by having a conversation with your child about the importance of using kind, respectful, and inclusive language. Please take a moment to specifically discuss why terms like the N-word and other harmful expressions are unacceptable.

Together, we can create a supportive environment where every student and staff member feels respected and valued. Thank you for your help in reinforcing this vital message at home.

On Friday, November 22nd students will be dismissed at 12:40pm. Educare program will be open to supervise students until regular time.

School will be closed for Thanksgiving break from Monday, November 25th, through Friday, November 29th. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, December 2nd.

The entire SFIAM staff wishes our families a joyful and restful Thanksgiving! We are so grateful to be part of this wonderful community.

We all know that regular attendance is crucial for student success. Just one missed day means missing out on six lessons, which can make catching up challenging, especially if absences add up. We understand that life happens, and sometimes kids get sick—thank you for doing your best to have your children in school as often as possible!

We’re proud to share our attendance numbers below:

• 204 students are meeting SFIAM attendance goals—congratulations! Keep up the great work!
• 120 students are in the basic attendance range—nice job! Let’s keep aiming for even more consistency!
• 60 students are currently considered chronically absent.

For those who have struggled with attendance, it’s not too late to make a positive change! If there’s anything preventing your child from attending school regularly, please reach out to us. We’re here to help and want to work with you to find solutions.

i-Ready assessments begin this week, and we’re excited to see the progress our students have made! We kindly ask for your support in encouraging your child to give their best effort and aim for their growth goals. Reminding them of the importance of trying their best can make a big difference in their confidence and success.

To make this experience fun and rewarding, we’re offering some exciting incentives:

1. i-Ready to Party!
   Students who meet their growth goal or score on grade level will be invited to a celebration featuring hot cocoa, friendship bracelet-making, temporary tattoos, games, and the chance to decorate their own tumbler.

2. Movie & Popcorn Party
   Any student who turns in scratch paper showing their work or demonstrates growth on their assessment will be invited to a special movie and popcorn party.

Thank you for encouraging your child to do their best! We’re so proud of all their hard work and look forward to celebrating their efforts and achievements.

Join fellow parents for an exciting field trip to Mission Community College! On November 20th, we will meet at SFIAM at 9:00 AM and head to Mission College together.

This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with other parents and explore all that Mission College has to offer. Everyone is welcome! The trip will run from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Parents, you're invited to our Cyber Bullying and Social Media Awareness Workshop on Tuesday, November 19th, offered at two convenient times: 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM.

This informative session will provide valuable tools and strategies to help keep your child safe online while fostering responsible use of social media. Don't miss this opportunity to learn how to support your child in navigating the digital world safely.

We’re in the home stretch of the fall semester!

Now is a great time for students to double-check that they’re caught up on all assignments. We recommend sitting down with your child to go through their Schoology account, class by class, to ensure nothing is missing.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or counselor.
