WHO WE ARE
THORNTON CREEK MISSION STATEMENT
We, the students, staff, and families of Thornton Creek share the responsibility of creating a safe and positive environment that promotes self-esteem, mutual respect, and optimum student learning.
Our Mission Statement is supported by the following Belief Statements:
Learning takes place at different rates and at different times
In utilizing multiple learning strategies
A positive climate fosters risk-taking
The application of problem-solving skills, higher-order thinking skills, and technology skills are critical to success in the 21st century
In facilitating avenues for self-expression and celebrating creativity
In encouraging students to reach their maximum potential for attaining knowledge
OUR COMMITMENT TO ALL
In Northville Public Schools, diversity, equity, and inclusion are foundational to opening a World of Possibilities for and with every student. We commit to developing a community that fosters a sense of belonging, respect, and access for all in order for students across race, ethnicity, socioeconomic factors, abilities, and identities to reach their maximum potential.
AWESOME GATORS: Students & Staff
Grade 2 Teachers and Students
Earlier this week, our second grade team of teachers presented (along with several students) to our PTA and families about how they have begun incorporating SNORKL into their lessons. Although our second grade team is just beginning, the positive impact is already being felt.
Festival of Cultures (Grade 4)
Once again, our annual Festival of Cultures brought students, families, and community together. This beautiful tradition with our 4th graders embodies so much of what we are all about at Thornton Creek and embraces the notion that we truly are more alike than we are different.
Job well done to all our students, teachers, and families...including grandparents and all extended family members :)
Lunch & Recess Monitors
Throughout the course of a school year, there are many individuals and teams of people that help to make each day run smoothly.
One such group is our wonderful and dependable lunch and recess monitors. This TEAM of parents partners with us each week to ensure our students are taken care of while in our cafeteria and also while playing outside with friends...no matter if the sun is shining or if the wind is whipping the snow around in the bitter cold.
Thank you to this amazing team of family members as our school functions at a higher level due in part to your commitment to student safety and well-being.

With the devastating wildfires in California, our TC Gators have come together and would like to provide as much support as we can to those impacted.
Please take a moment to look over the 2 items below and, if you are able, make a donation that will go to provide relief and support to the California Firefighters and/or others who need our help.

NHS Book Drive
We are once again partnering with the high school, specifically with a student named Rithisha, to collect books for students in need. Please see the information below for more details and feel free to also communicate this in your classroom newsletters:
From January 13th to March 3rd, we will be hosting a book drive to benefit Birdie’s Book Mobile, a program dedicated to providing books to children and families in need in Detroit. We are collecting new and gently used books for K-12 readers. Books such as picture, early chapter, middle-grade, and YA books are accepted. Please note that we cannot accept textbooks, adult books, or encyclopedias. Donation bins will be located inside the school.
Let’s come together as a school community to make a difference, one book at a time!

STUDENT CREDIT UNION
Start your student’s savings off with $20 from CFCU!
It’s never too soon to start building savings habits, and there’s no better way to do it than by building real savings at the same time. We want to help your student start their journey, so we’re pitching in $20 for every kindergarten and 5th grade student in the Northville School District! The best part? All it takes is a savings account at Community Financial!
Why we’re kickstarting savings
We’re big on saving money, and we know that it works best when it’s a life-long skill. We’ve been helping students practice their savings for decades through our in-school programs, and we want to continue growing those good habits in our communities!
How you can get started
All you need to do is open your student’s no-fee, totally free Community Financial Savings Account through the link below by May 31. After that, we’ll make sure the $20 kickstarter deposit ends up in their account within two weeks!
How the savings habits build
Keep the momentum going by participating in our Student-Run Credit Union! This optional, extra-fun program offers students the chance to learn about saving money by doing it for real while at school! Each month they’ll have the opportunity to make deposits into their account while learning about finances from Community Financial team members!
