MISSION, VISION AND VALUES
Our BPS Mission: "Empower every learner to thrive."
Our BPS Vision: "Together, our strong relationships build inclusive, collaborative, and innovative environments that create agency and inspire a passion for learning, excellence, and discovery."
Our BPS Values: Inclusion, Excellence, Innovation and LeadershipMessage from the Principal- Dr. Herman
We are so grateful to everyone who joined us for our Thanksgiving Dinner! It was truly special to see families come together, share laughter, and enjoy the evening. Your presence made the event even more meaningful, and we loved seeing all the smiles and joy.
Thank you to the donors who generously provided the mini Christmas trees for the giveaway. Your thoughtfulness added an extra touch of holiday cheer. We are also deeply thankful to United Way for donating their time and contributing a beautiful tree for the giveaway. Your support made such a difference.
Our heartfelt appreciation also goes out to the community churches that prepared the delicious food and sent volunteers to help during the event. The care and love you poured into this event did not go unnoticed and helped create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
This gathering was a beautiful reflection of what makes our school community so special. We are truly thankful for everyone who contributed their time, resources, and energy to make it such a memorable evening.

Progress Reports
- Myhre wants to share a small update regarding the visual progress report you have received. You may have noticed that there is a shaded grey area on the report, which represents the end-of-year expectation. This change is intended to help you see your child’s current progress in relation to their end of year goals. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions about the visual progress report.

Changes made to the Visual Progress Report:
- Target grey area is set at 2.5-3.0 for all trimesters
Parents UNITED
Each month we have an activity for you and your children to attend that focus on different topics geared towards you and your kids! This month we will be having a STEM activity to do with your child on December 10th from 4:00-5:00pm. You must register to attend, there will be pizza and prize giveaways.
Thanks to all of you who joined us for our Myhre Thanksgiving dinner in November! Thank you to Bismarck Community Church and The United Way for sponsoring the meal and giveaways!!
Dress for the Weather!
As the weather turns colder, we want to emphasize the importance of dressing your child appropriately to keep them comfortable and safe. Cold temperatures can be challenging for young ones, but with the right clothing, we can ensure they stay warm and healthy during the winter months. Please remember jackets, gloves, hats, snow pants, and boots for your child.
Second Step/ Reteach
As a school, we will model the framework and continue to implement a school-wide approach to behavior utilizing strategies in Second Step and Conscious Discipline. We will teach, model, and practice expectations and procedures multiple times throughout the year. Second Step is our district-wide social skills curriculum that teaches students self-regulation, safety, and problem-solving skills. Students come to school to learn and one of the areas of learning includes managing behavior and social-emotional needs in a variety of settings and situations.
We expect kids to make mistakes. Mistakes are a part of being human and inevitably when we are around others, mistakes will be made. We believe strongly in the idea of restitution (fixing what you did and making it right) and learning from your mistakes. The idea of a “write-up” is a punishment, (shame and blame) that is not what a Myhre Mend is. When your child gets a Mend, please understand that we are trying to help them make it right and fix their mistake. Mends should be seen as an opportunity to learn and grow. Below are some questions you can ask at home:
- Tell me how you fixed it?
- Next time what are you going to do?
- What did you learn from your mistake?
- I am so proud of you for coming up with a solution to your mistake.
With that focus, we strongly believe kids will learn from their mistakes and become better because of them. Please feel free to reach out to us if your child gets a Myhre Mend to better assist you with teaching restitution at home.
Lost & Found
Our lost and found is filling up! If your child is missing clothing, coats, jackets, hats, gloves, or water bottles, please take a moment to check. Here are a few reminders for your child:
- Make sure their item is labeled- labeled items are much easier to return to their owners
- Have them check the lost and found regularly for any of their items.
As a reminder, any items not taken home, will be donated.
