HABITAT FOR HUMANITY SERVICE TRIP
CVU students and staff Griffin Hengelsberg, Lee Friedman, Zane Martenis, Jonas Tajbl, Beckham Palmer, Alicia Kroll, Fiona Carpenter, Presley Lewis, Jackie Whittier, Claud Bigue and
Carol Fox traveled to North Carolina and donated their time and energy over spring break to help in the building of five low income houses in Winston-Salem. They gained construction skills, ate a lot of good food, learned some history, made new friends and did work that made a difference. Their great attitudes and hard work earned them a lot of praise and appreciation. Thanks to Carol Fox's planning there were fun after-work activities and even a couple of days of sight seeing in Washington DC.
Best trip ever!
Fresh out of the editor, this week's episode is packed with news and interviews, including information on the upcoming "Socrates Cafe", another faculty/staff spotlight, and our student interview segment with some special guests.
We have one more show this year, so stay tuned!
As always please watch and share! Let's set a viewing record CVU!
Thanks for supporting The CVU Show. Happy Mother's Day!
Check out the guitar Dylan built in Nexus! Awesome!
Thank you from ROC for a successful spring food drive! Lily, Lauren, Sophie, and Bibi, shopped, organized and delivered food to local New American families. It was very much appreciated! ROC is still accepting donations to help support families with food, clothing, and social opportunities throughout the summer. Please see the Venmo link below or drop off grocery gift cards (attention Naomi Williams) in the CVU Direction Center.
From Cameron Brownell: On Tuesday, May 7, members of the CVU Choral Ensembles took a trip to the Flynn Theater to see the National Broadway Tour of Mean Girls. Here we are in front of City Hall with the new mayor of Burlington!
From Jess LaPlante: The annual middle school track meet was held at CVU on Wednesday. 100's of students from around the Champlain Valley competed in events with the support of the CVU track team (including Jimmy, Hayden, and Jeremy).
From Brad Miller: Danyka, Paula, Cailin, Jorga and their classmates welcomed guest speakers to their 4th block English class on Thursday for some 'Hot Seat' to practice Harkness skills. Seen here with Jeff O'Hara.
Jason Fearon, Lianna Reed, and Leanne Morton led CVU Art and Latin students to Italy for eleven days over the April break. Students visited museums in Florence and Rome where they learned about Renaissance painters and sculptors. They also had guided visits of the Flavian Amphitheater, Roman Forum, Ostia Antica and Pompeii. Participants even had a chance to meet up with CVU 2018 Graduate, Andrea Maccariello, who came to visit us in Pompeii.
From Adrian Walther: Creative Writing students at our end of the poetry unit gallery walk, reading and appreciating each other’s hard work.
