Principals Message
“Mā te huruhuru ka rere te manu”
“Adorn the bird with feathers so it may fly.”
Tena koutou kātoa, and welcome back to a new term of enriching educational experiences. It is heartening to see that all students appear refreshed and filled with enthusiasm for the learning opportunities that lie ahead. We look forward to fostering a partnership with our community to promote growth and collaboration as we embark on this journey together.
Nga Mihi Ramia Honatana
As we reflect on Waitangi Day, we recognize the potential of
“Ka Hao te Rangatahi—the new generation of leaders”.
We the whānau and hapori have the potential to influence, support and challenge our tamariki who will become the next new leaders of the future.
Together, let us navigate the unknown with purpose, honoring the dreams of our tūpuna while forging a bright future. Our collective voice will shape the path ahead.
“He rangi tā matawhāiti, he rangi tā matawhānui.”
Ra Whakawhanaunga
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the whanau who participated in our Ra Whakawhanaunga Day. This event served as an effective platform for fostering new relationships while informing the whanau and tamaiti about the strategic focus areas for 2025.
“Mā whero, mā pango ka oti te mahi.- By working together, we will achieve success for our tamariki-mokopuna.”

Stationery requirements for 2025.
The school will provide all students with the necessary stationery needs for the year. All we ask is that you provide your child with a school bag, school uniform and a water bottle.
School uniforms
All students need to wear our Te Kura O Te Pāroa school uniform.
We have a beautiful school uniform and we want all students to show respect for our kura and what it represents. Therefore any form of mufti or incorrect uniform will be taken from the tamaiti and whānau will need to pick these up from the school office. The price list for items are below. This message also includes sports sleeves. These can be worn on the sports field but not during school time.

Breakfast in school - this will begin Tuesday next week 11/02/2025 from 7.45am to 8.30am.
Attendance
Please ensure that you contact the kura if your child is away sick. This means they can be marked as explained or medical rather than truant.
When you are reporting absences please give students full name, class, reason and how many days away.
Ways of reporting student absences are:
Ring the school office - 07 308 6652
Send Txt message to 0274471900.
Send via skool loop app.
Send message to classroom teachers.
Every day counts.
Attendance + Attitude = Success.
● For continued absences or truancy, tamariki and whanau will be referred to Attendance services, who will help identify and support barriers to coming to kura.
● For tamariki with chronic absences, please note that the kura can engage with external agencies to help support being at kura more regularly.
● Please talk to your classroom teacher or LSC if you need support getting tamariki to school.
School swimming pool
We are fortunate to have a functional swimming pool at our kura, providing all our ākonga with the opportunity to learn essential water safety skills and strengthen their swimming abilities. To make the most of this resource, please support your tamaiti in bringing their togs every day.
For health and safety reasons, our pool is only open during school hours and is not available for public use. This ensures the water is treated correctly and regularly monitored for the wellbeing of our tamariki.
Ngā mihi nui for your support.
Linewize program.
We now have a new program in the school that monitors students' online behaviour and activity. Please remind your tamaiti that learning experiences set up by the kaiako are there for the purpose of learning. If misuse of the schools devices or internet activity is reported their devices will be taken from them.
Students are not allowed to bring phones to school. If a phone is required for the student to communicate with their whānau the phone is to be left at the school office.
Phones are not allowed to be used during play breaks, in the classroom, at Kapa Haka practice, or sporting excursions.
If kaiako and staff see a phone they will be confiscated.
Therefore, whānau I need your help:
-Please check that your child hasn’t brought their phone to kura.
-Please check their social media platforms.
-Please monitor the sites they are going on at home.
Family link is a free app that has been used by a member of staff at our kura. She highly recommends the use of this app for her tamariki.
Even though most incidents of misconduct online occur outside of school hours and off school premises, the repercussions are still felt within the school community.
By keeping an eye on how your child behaves online, you can help prevent these negative behaviours from occurring.
SPORT / HAKINAKINA
Sport is a great way for our students to stay active, build teamwork, and represent our kura with pride. Don’t miss out—secure your child’s place today!

Unpaid fees from the 2024 season will need to be paid with the 2025 fees before your child is allowed to pay. Contact Whaea Ihi in the office if you are unsure whether you have paid or not.
RIPPA Rugby kicks off next week, so you have one week to make payment at the office.
