A MESSAGE FROM MRS. GAULT
Happy weekend Roadrunners!
Warning this newsletter is long- BUT please take the time to read through it. There is lots of information and many opportunities to engage with our campus in it! Several events we will be hosting for the first time and would love you to attend and to give us some feedback.
We have had lots going on at our campus. Our students have finished up all of our middle of the year assessments and you will probably be getting some of those results soon if you haven't already. Overall our students are progressing well! Thank you for working with your students. We commend them for their handwork, and are thankful that they have such great teachers in their classrooms pushing them to be all that they can be! We aren't' done yet - we have great things ahead! Keep encouraging your kiddo and helping to encourage them both academically and emotionally. It takes a village.
This week we were able to surprise our campus Teacher of the Year and Support Staff of the Year. We are lucky to have these amazing ladies on our campus. Their spirit and work ethic is inspiring to us all. Congratulations Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Solomon!! We also hired a new Assistant Principal, Mrs. Nicole Liebau. Mrs. Liebau will be starting with us at Van Raub on February 10th. So as you see these folks on campus help me give them a warm Roadrunner congratulations!
Please continue reading - lots of great things happening at our amazing campus. Thank you for trusting us with your children. It is our honor to support your child in their educational growth!
Have a blessed weekend enjoy the beautiful weather - mother nature seems to be having a hard time deciding what season we are in. Enjoy it while we can!
Be blessed -
Mrs. Gault
Congratulations VRES Teacher of the Year - Mrs. Sarah Wilson - PreK
Congratulations VRES Support Staff Member of the Year - Mrs. Melanie Solomon
Welcome Mrs. Nicole Liebau - New VRES Assistant Principal
Van Raub Elementary is thrilled to welcome Mrs. Nicole Liebau (lee-bow) as our new Assistant Principal. She brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to student success to our community.
Mrs. Liebau's career in education spans 20 years, with the last 10 years serving in Boerne ISD. For the past five years, she has served as an Instructional Coach at Cibolo Creek Elementary, and most recently, Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary where she has partnered with teachers to refine their instructional practices, implement data-driven strategies, and foster collaborative professional learning communities. She is adept at identifying areas for growth and providing teachers with the support and resources they need to excel.
Mrs. Liebau's educational journey includes degrees from two esteemed Texas universities. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Texas Tech University and later pursued her Master's in Educational Leadership from Schreiner University. This strong academic foundation, combined with her extensive practical experience, makes her exceptionally well-equipped to serve as our Assistant Principal.
In her free time, Mrs. Liebau enjoys spending time reading, hiking, traveling and trying new restaurants. She loves cheering on the Texas Tech Red Raiders with her family.
Mrs. Liebau is eager to collaborate with our dedicated faculty, staff, students, and families to build upon the strong foundation already in place at Van Raub Elementary. She will be joining the VRES Campus full time on Monday, February 10, 2025. Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Mrs. Liebau! We are confident that her leadership will be a tremendous asset to our school community.

PK-2 MIDDLE OF THE YEAR SCREENER DATA & INFORMATION -
COMING HOME
Your child’s results from the district wide reading screener for Grade K-2 will be coming home with your student this next week, if you have not already received them. Please check their backpacks.
The screener selected by Boerne ISD for Grade K-2 is DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) for all students is given three times a year (beginning, middle, and end of year). The screener is administered by the teacher to each student in the class individually. The student is asked to complete a series of short tasks related to reading.
An early screener of literacy skills is required by the Texas Legislature. The purpose of the early reading assessment is to inform where your child’s strengths are and where to focus instruction. If you have any questions please contact your child’s teacher.
PK families will be receiving middle of the year data as well.
