From the Principal
Happy New Year & Welcome Back!
It is my sincere hope that these last 2 weeks have been restful, slow paced and family focused. I look forward to hearing of the memories made and the fun times had.
To start this New Year, Burns Park will begin teaching the TRAILS curriculum. This is the SEL (social and emotional learning) curriculum being taught district wide. There are a variety of themes throughout this curriculum that we will be learning. January's theme is: Self Awareness. Please be on the lookout for more information about TRAILS in your class newsletters.
Just like at the beginning of the school year when we had grade level assemblies organized by the special area teachers, we will have a similar January Reset this Friday. Our special area teachers have prepared a lesson/activity for students and will introduce the ways in which Self Awareness supports them in all environments of the school. The students loved being together as a grade level this fall and we look forward to this Friday.
THANK YOU! An enormous thank you to all of the families of Burns Park. Your generosity and love over the Holiday Season was greatly appreciated. Thank you for every note, gift and well wish. Many many thanks!

Design Advisory Team
Background: The DAT should consist of 8-12 forward-thinking individuals from your school and community, carefully selected to represent the entire school community effectively. Given that the design is for a school meant to endure for many decades, it is crucial that team members possess an open-minded approach. They should be capable of envisioning how the school will serve future generations of learners, rather than merely concentrating on current, short-term problems. Their foresight and broad perspective are essential in shaping a learning environment that remains relevant and effective in the long term.
This will be a 4 year process. 2 years of planning and 2 years of construction. If you have the staying power to see it through, please email me to let me know.
The following are tentative dates for in person/online meetings.
Tentative Dates: (in person) January 22 *confirmed 1:00-3:30, (online/in person) Feb/March around Feb 13, 14, or 18-20, Feb/March (in person) Feb. 26-28 or March 4-7, 11-12, (in person) March/April 1-4 or 8-11, Oct/Nov (in person), + 2 more Fall community events
