The Owl Post
January 19, 2024
Dear Vernon Community,
Due to the recent school closure, we are rescheduling conferences for those who have not had the opportunity to meet with teachers. Please keep an eye out for a note from your teacher regarding the revised schedule. We appreciate the collective effort of our staff in managing conferences during these closures to ensure a smooth experience for all families.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. I am hoping that this week is the only weather related disruption to school that we will see for the remainder of the year.
I want to remind you of our upcoming late start for all K-8 students. We recently adopted some new social emotional curriculum at all grade levels. In order to best prepare our staff for using these new materials we have identified the following date as a 2 hour late opening.
*Winter 2-hour Late Opening:
The winter 2-hour late opening will be on Jan. 25th.
As a K-8 school, our K-5 staff will be focusing on implementing social and emotional support. Our 6-8 staff will be focused on the implementation of the new curriculum for advisory.
All students in grades K-8 will have a two hour late start on January 25th.
Thursday, 1/25 only:
10:38am – MYP (6th-8th) First Bell
10:45am – MYP (6th-8th) Classes Begin

Reschedule Conferences with Your Teacher!
If you need to reschedule a conference reach out to your classroom teacher.
For Middle School students the 6th Period Advisory Teacher is your contact person.
Parent/teacher conferences are a great opportunity to meet your child's teacher, see your child's classroom and learn about how your child is doing in school. It's also a great time for you to ask questions or talk about any learning-related concerns. Creating a partnership with your child's teacher around your child's learning can make a big difference.
