Class of 2025: Join the Alumni Network
Seniors (and parents), did you know that we have an alumni network? This was launched this year and is used as a tool for PUSD to reach out to our alumni to give back to our schools. Some examples of ways that alumni can support our schools is through activities like Career Day, chaperoning field trips, or even subbing in our schools.
This can also be a resource for alumni to get in touch with each other. Linked HERE is a page on our PUSD website to invite alumni of PHS and MHS to sign up. If you wish to sign up directly, you may do so HERE.
Chief Bowers to Speak at Graduation
Are are honored that Chief Bowers has agreed to speak at the 2025 graduation on June 5. Chief Bowers was selected from a very distinguished group, and has taken it upon himself to "study up" for this event by meeting with students and staff to find out more about what is meaningful to PHS students.
We consider ourselves fortunate to have Chief Bowers speak one last time before his retirement and look forward to a memorable evening. Thank you so much and appreciation to our Parent Club for helping with this process.

Highlander of the Week
This week's student is Deniz Radzik. Thank you for getting your responses to me so quickly. We start off by having Mr. Meseroll share some thoughts on Deniz.
I have known Deniz for two years, and the word that best describes him is dependable. As the only drummer in Jazz Band, our rehearsals and performances truly rely on his presence and he consistently delivers. He has rarely missed a class and has never missed a performance.
In addition to Jazz Band, Deniz has contributed to the Orchestra concert as a percussionist and took on the demanding role of playing drum set for the musical. Through all of this, he has proven to be one of the most dedicated, hardworking, and reliable students in the PHS music program.
At the concert yesterday, Deniz showcased his talents once again by performing a wide selection of pieces including the infamous "Caravan" arrangement from the movie Whiplash.
And from Deniz himself:
- So far this year, what has been your most memorable experience? The most memorable experience was working at the pit during the musical.
- If you were to describe PHS to someone who is thinking about coming, what would you say to them? I would describe PHS as primarily academic/STEM-focused but flexible and versatile.
- If you were in charge at PHS, what is one action you might take to make it better? I would find a way to pay teachers more.
- If you could share one sentence with your parents/guardians, what would you say? I would share "I've grown as a person thanks to your help, but I am my own individual person now."
- What is your favorite word? My favorite word is nasty.
- What is your favorite song? My favorite song is "Butterfly" by Herbie Hancock.
- What is your favorite food? My favorite food is a Lion king roll .
- Can you share a photo of something from your summer and why it is special to you? This photo was taken during spring break when me and a few friends went thrifting together in San Francisco. Originally my friend was in the photo next to me but I cropped it, we got ice cream and deli sandwiches and listened to music sitting under palm trees. Although the thrift sucked we had a good time. Its special to me because I experienced a lot of great events during that day when I took the photo, and I value the friends I spent time with, which makes the picture and the experience more treasured.
Thanks & Appreciations
- Kudos to all the folks who helped create a successful Maker's Faire last Sunday. It was a tremendous event with so much great projects, crafts, and food too.
- Shout out to Mr. Meseroll for some amazing performances this week. And our Highlanders--couldn't be more impressed. They've set the bar high for next year.
- A big Thank You to AD Small for the Senior Recognition Ceremony this past Wednesday. It was great to hear the coaches speak to highly of our student athletes as they move on to their next chapter of their life.
- High Fives to Ms. Adams and all the ASB students for pulling off a beautiful, successful Day on the Green. They brought the sun and the fun. Job well done!
