These newsletters are designed with the most critical information at the top, and as you scroll down, you'll find information focused on future events. This will be your "one-stop shop" to stay updated on our school community.

- Visitor Parking Lot
- aReading and aMath Testing
- Highlights from the Past Month
- Scholarship Opportunity
- Community Event
- Restorative Practices
- Yearbook Ordering
- Money for College
Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher, our staff, or our administration team with any questions you may have. We are always happy to hear from you!
Visitor Parking Lot
We need your help to keep our arrivals and dismissals running smoothly and safely for everyone. If you’re leaving from the visitor parking lot, please turn right when exiting. We’ve noticed that waiting to turn left creates traffic back-ups and delays other families trying to leave quickly and safely. Turning right helps keep the flow of traffic moving and gets everyone on their way faster. Thanks so much for your cooperation and for doing your part to support our school community.
aReading and aMath Testing
North View Middle School will take the Fastbridge Testing in Reading and Math on the dates listed below. Please ensure that your student brings their fully charged Chromebook, charger, and headphones on their testing date.
- Reading: 5/12 & 5/13
- Math: 5/14 & 5/15
Thank you in advance for your help in ensuring that our students have a productive testing experience.
Highlights From the Past Month
6th Grade Math
Math Foundations students dove into the world of rates and turned their discoveries into eye-catching posters! They explored how a cell phone battery drains over time, cracked the problem from different angles, and showed off their math skills in style. Their creativity and problem-solving shined as they connected real-life scenarios to classroom learning.
Thank You!
Mankato Field Trip
Students in the Improve Your Tomorrow mentorship program recently took a field trip to Mankato State University, where they explored the campus and learned about college life firsthand. The visit included a guided tour, conversations with current students, and a glimpse into academic and student support programs. It was an inspiring experience that gave participants a clearer vision of their future possibilities.
Ellevation will award ten $2000 scholarships to high school seniors who are currently or were formerly identified for English Learner services.
These flexible scholarships help address some of the financial barriers to higher education. They can be used to purchase technology, to cover the cost of travel/moving to school, to pay for school supplies such as textbooks or housing supplies, or to reimburse tuition.
High school seniors may apply if they plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study in a two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire 2025-26 school year.
More details and a link to the application are available on the Ellevation Education blog. The deadline for applications is May 12, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. CT.

Restorative Practice at North View
We’re already halfway through the third trimester—time is flying by! At North View Middle School, we continue to focus on Restorative Practices, Trauma-Informed Practices, and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) by explicitly teaching expectations each trimester.
Click here to see how students reviewed these expectations in their advisory classrooms. In addition to teaching expectations, we aim to recognize and positively reinforce them. In March, we held our second No Tardy Party to celebrate approximately 100 students, 20% of our student body, who had zero tardies throughout the second trimester!
This year, our Restorative work has centered on Restorative Chats, facilitated conversations designed to repair harm and restore relationships. These chats can occur between students, between students and staff, or in any situation where harm, intentional or not, has been done.
Restorative Chats are guided by the following reflective questions:
- What happened?
- What were you thinking/feeling?
- What was the impact?
- What needs to happen to make things right?
Before a chat, both parties have an opportunity to process with a facilitator, often our Restorative Counselor Ms. McGinnis, or another staff member such as an administrator, teacher, counselor, or social worker. If both sides are willing, a conversation takes place in a neutral space and concludes with agreements or commitments. The facilitator follows up with informal check-ins to ensure accountability.
At the core of Restorative Chats is relationship. A strong relationship is the foundation of these conversations, as the goal is to repair, restore, or take steps toward rebuilding trust and understanding.
