A Note from Preschool Director, Mrs. Hafner
We are looking forward to seeing Grandparents tomorrow for our “Goodies for Grandparents.” Grandparents can drop them off at their teacher’s door on Friday. You need to make sure that you have checked your child in at home. This is very important to remember to do, each time your child is in preschool. Set a phone alarm to remind yourself, if that is helpful.
DO NOT DROP YOUR PRESCHOOL CHILDREN OFF WITHOUT A TEACHER PRESENT OUTSIDE. THEIR SIBLINGS CAN WALK THEM IN ONCE THE PRESCHOOL TEACHER HAS ARRIVED OUTSIDE.
Here are the times for you to reference:
Please note: 8:10 is when the first bell rings so the hallways are less crowded for our littlest preschoolers.
MWF and T/TH Preschool 3's class- Mrs. Eframo will come out at 8:10.... students will begin walking into their classroom. I will be inside to guide them, and Mrs. Lucky will be in their classroom to help them get settled.

Staff Highlight
Ms. Mika Hurd
Many of you may have noticed more new faces this year. Ms. Hurd has been a great help during morning drop off, especially the first week of school. We are very lucky to have a staff member who will step in and help when we need it.
In the Classrooms
Even though it was a short week, it was a busy and productive time in the classroom
Our Pre-K students have started their CKLA curriculum with the first unit titled “All About Me.” They’ve been exploring their bodies and learning to share about themselves through their “All About Me” posters. It has been a fantastic way for the children to connect and learn about each other’s families and interests.
In math, the Pre-K children have been sorting numbers from 1 to 5. This week we began learning about engineers and how they are curious people and how they like to invent and build. The children began working together to design and build bridges out of blocks, and Mrs. Olson’s class took it a step further by creating back scratchers this week. We can already see some creative engineers in the making, ready to solve those problems! The children also discovered the many different kinds of engineers and how they work together to solve problems for all of us.
In the Preschool 3's, the children have been discussing what makes them special and studying the letter A. They have also begun exploring the five senses, and to enhance that experience, we filled our sensory tub with oats and other exciting materials to create “apple pie.” This hands-on activity has been a delightful way for the children to use their senses.
During social-emotional learning, we’ve been practicing four essential skills that help make good listeners – and good listeners, of course, make great learners!
Library Lane
Basil, our Honorary Librarian
Basil is our beloved honorary librarian. She comes to school almost everyday and helps the students during reading time. She started coming this week and all the students can't get enough of this fluffy fixture in our library.
We are so lucky to have Basil at our school.
How to find Teacher Pages
Our Preschool Website can be found here.
It has wonderful information for parents and students. You can find lots of information on what your student is doing in class, what the upcoming week looks like and so much more.
We are actively updating the website so you have access to more information. So, visit often as we are continually updating the webpages each day.
BFA 13 Virtues
September's Virtues are...
Silence – There is a time and place to speak up and a time to listen. You learn more by listening than speaking.
Justice – Be respectful. Give everyone a chance to work or play. Give others a chance to express themselves. Share. Remember that others are counting on you, so live up to your duty.
BFA's Guiding Principles
Mission:
Our mission is to create young adults with character like America's founding Renaissance man, Benjamin Franklin: well-read, scientifically curious, and civically engaged.
Vision:
Our students will excel academically through a challenging, sequenced curriculum that emphasizes math, science, the arts, and literacy. We will be a data-driven institution, focusing on individual students. Our students, teachers, parents, staff, and leaders will be held accountable for the success of our school. Finally, we recognize that an education is incomplete without fostering social emotional development, character, sports, and nature.
13 Virtues:
Temperance, Silence, Order, Resolution, Frugality, Industry, Sincerity, Justice, Moderation, Cleanliness, Tranquility, Purity and Humility.
