Byam Newsletter

In observance of Labor Day, school will not be in session on Friday and Monday. We will resume on Tuesday, September 3. Have a great long weekend!

Arrival and dismissal times are always our busiest times of the school day. Thank you to everyone for their patience as we start out the year and everyone gets used to new routines. Our bus times and driver pick up times should be closer to the regular schedule next week. Please be reminded that when driving on school grounds that we use caution and slow speeds as we have students, staff and families using multiple sidewalks. When buses are stopped and their lights are flashing it is unlawful to pass.

Our breakfast program is a bit different this year. Families no longer need to order in advance to have a breakfast prepared and delivered to rooms. Students have various service tables in the morning by where they enter the building to pick up a breakfast on the way to class. Please find the breakfast menu for September below:

A few reminders from the Nurse's Office:

• If you have not sent in your child's inhaler or epi-pen with updated medical forms (dated AFTER 7/1/2024) please deliver them to the nurse's office next week. Both the parent and MD portions of the forms need to be filled out. Prescriptions need to be in original containers with pharmacy labels present.

• Thank you to everyone who has returned their student's emergency contact and health forms. If you have not- please send them in on Monday with your child.

• A notification regarding food allergies and allergy safe snacks was sent home with your child this week. Please read this letter and then sign and return the bottom portion. We have many students in the school with life threatening food allergies. For the health and safety of all of our student it is essential that all classrooms remain Nut, Sunflower and Sesame FREE. Please do not send any snack to school with your child that contains these ingredients and always check labels before sending in a snack.

• As a reminder we do not keep extra snacks or changes of clothing in the Nurse's Office. If you think your child may need a change of clothes during the school day please pack them in their backpacks.

Byam Back to School Curriculum Night Schedule

Back to School Curriculum night will be Thursday September 19th with the following schedule.

5 – 5:25 pm: Principal/Assistant Principal Presentation- Cafeteria (3 and 4 families)

5:30 – 6:15pm: Grades 3 & 4 Teacher Presentations

6:15 – 7:00 pm: Specialists/ Reading/ support providers available in classrooms/offices

7 – 7:25pm: Principal/ Assistant Principal Presentation- Cafeteria (K,1,2 families - same as first presentation)

7:30 – 8:15pm: Grades K, 1 & 2 Teacher Presentations

* Another mark your calendar to note, the previous day September 18th, is an early release 11:45 dismissal day.
