The official digital newsletter of La Porte ISD
Greetings, La Porte ISD Family. Today is a great day to be a Bulldog!
It's a good thing that Daylight Saving Time ended this weekend, because we needed the extra hour of sleep with all the excitement in La Porte ISD!
For only the fourth time in the history of our storied cross country program, La Porte High School was represented individually at State by a freshman. This time, it was Gianna Palomarez. We are so proud of her! We are also very proud of our La Porte Bulldogs Football Team, which clinched its second straight district championship on Friday with a win over state-ranked Angleton. Finally, our Lady Dawgs Volleyball Team has once again qualified for the postseason, and we couldn't be more excited about their success!
Superintendent Shout-outs
- Huge kudos to the 11-5A District Champion La Porte Bulldogs Football Team, which moved to 6-0 in district play after a win over state-ranked Angleton this past Friday. Along the way, Sean Simon broke La Porte's single game rushing record with 351 yards on the ground! Congratulations to all!
- Mega shout-out to freshman Gianna Palomarez, who competed in the UIL State Cross Country Championships this weekend! The future remains bright for La Porte's cross country programs!
- Also, a big shout-out to the Lady Dawgs Volleyball Team for qualifying as a playoff team for the second straight year! They face Barbers Hill on Monday in a Bi-District playoff.
- Huge shout-out to our La Porte High School All-Region Choir members, who competed against hundreds of their counterparts to be a part of this elite group of singers.
- Friday was Coaches Day in La Porte ISD. Our coaches, including band directors, dance instructors, JROTC instructors, and many others, spend countless hours developing not only skills but also the character and resilience of our students. Thank you!
- Speaking of coaches, congratulations to La Porte High School’s Coach Marcus McGraw for being selected as Dave Campbell's Football Week 9 Defensive Coordinator of the Week!
- Many thanks to the members of the La Porte Retired School Employees Association for collecting and donating books for our elementary students to read at home. Reading is the foundation for all learning, and we are grateful that our former teachers and staff remain committed to the success of our students.
In closing, this is another huge week in our district. I invite everyone to come support our Lady Dawgs Volleyball Team in the Bi-District Playoff on Monday at Baytown Sterling High School. As this is Homecoming Week, I also look forward to seeing our Bulldogs faithful on Friday night at Abshier Stadium, as we create and celebrate lasting memories.
As always, I look forward to a fantastic week ahead, and I appreciate your continued support and partnership.
In your service,
Walter Jackson, Ed.D.

Must-Knows For This Week
- Tuesday is Election Day, and a holiday for students.
- La Porte ISD is excited to introduce the easy option of paying for all school fees/spirit items with our new RevTrak online credit card payment system. Simply create an account, find your campus, choose your fee to pay and check out. The best part is that you will not be charged a fee to use the site. Access RevTrak here. (If you are adding funds to your student’s meal account, you will continue to use the My School Bucks website.)
- The 2024-25 Student Handbook and Student Code of Conduct are available online. Please familiarize your student with the contents. We are strictly enforcing the district dress code; you can review it beginning on page 54 of the Student Code of Conduct. Thank you for helping us ensure that our students dress appropriately.
- If your child rides the bus, we encourage you to download the SMART Tag Parent app. With the SMART Tag Parent App, families enjoy great features such as push notifications for load/unload status, proximity to home/school alerts and real-time location of your student's bus. Questions? Call our dedicated Transportation Department at 281-604-7177.
- Breakfast and Lunch are FREE for all La Porte ISD students this year! Supplemental food, such as fruits and vegetables, are also free for students who bring their lunch. (No registration is necessary.)

Cross Country Runner Extraordinaire
La Porte High School's Gianna Palomarez on Saturday became one of only four freshmen in the history of the program to run in the UIL State Cross Country Meet. Said her head coach Carolina Rodriguez, "We are proud of Gianna. She put in the work and reaped the reward of running on the big stage. We see Gianna leading this team to great things in the next three years." Congratulations, Gianna!
