Matthew D'Adamo is set to inherit the family estate but due to a fifteenth century inheritance clause that states 'the heir to the D'Adamo Family Trust must be the youngest, legal-aged, married male', he first he needs to find a wife or else the estate goes to the youngest 'married' D'Adamo male. Sarah Browne, a free-spirited event manager, agrees to an air-tight pre-nup and is looking forward to a break from the emotional toll of her endometriosis. The first time the two meet is on the flight to Florence. When they arrive they find another claimant has surfaced and now they must spend a year together restoring a rundown hotel. Whichever couple is most successful after 12 months wins the family estate.

Everything is Water
When writer and hiking enthusiast Simon Cleary sets off to follow the course of a river that has so influenced his life, he hopes that by walking its banks he will better understand the power and impact of this immense waterway on the environment and communities who rely on it. Despite being extremely well-prepared, Cleary is at the mercy of the weather and one of the wettest autumn months on record. His ambitious journey, alone and with companions, threatens to be cut short by the subject of his walk - the swirling, unpredictable and magnificent Brisbane River. Over four eventful weeks and 344 kilometres - from its source to where it empties into the bay - we are witness to the river in all of its beauty and fury. Everything is Water considers our complex relationship with nature through flood, drought, time and place. It is an inspiring pilgrimage that invites us to connect with nature and also to navigate our own path.
Everyone on This Train is a Suspect
When the Australian Mystery Writers’ Society invited me to their crime-writing festival aboard the Ghan, the famous train between Darwin and Adelaide, I was hoping for some inspiration for my second book. Fiction, this time: I needed a break from real people killing each other. Obviously, that didn’t pan out.
The program is a who’s who of crime writing royalty: the debut writer (me!), the forensic science writer, the blockbuster writer, the legal thriller writer, the literary writer, the psychological suspense writer.
But when one of us is murdered, the remaining authors quickly turn into five detectives. Together, we should know how to solve a crime. Of course, we should also know how to commit one.
How can you find a killer when all the suspects know how to get away with murder?
Yellowface
Athena Liu is a literary darling and June Hayward is literally nobody. White lies - When Athena dies in a freak accident, June steals her unpublished manuscript and publishes it as her own under the ambiguous name Juniper Song. Dark humour - But as evidence threatens June’s stolen success, she will discover exactly how far she will go to keep what she thinks she deserves. Deadly consequences… What happens next is entirely everyone else’s fault.
Beastly Beauty
What makes a girl beastly? Is it having too much ambition? Being too loud? Taking up too much space? Or is it just wanting something -- anything -- too badly? Try as she might, Arabella can't extinguish the fire burning inside her -- the source of her deepest wishes dreams. When an attempt to suppress her emotions tragically backfires, Arabella is cursed... trapping her, her ladies of the court and everyone she cares about in her castle. The only way to break it, she believes, is to find a boy who loves her for her true self: a cruel task for a girl who has been told she's impossible to love. When handsome thief Beau becomes trapped inside the castle, he finds himself drawn like a moth to a flame to the mysterious Arabella. If Beau and Arabella have any hope of breaking the curse, they must learn to trust their wounded hearts and realise that the cruellest prisons are the ones we build for ourselves.
The Bad Ones
One town. One night. Four people gone. Nora's best friend, Becca, is one of the lost. As Nora tries to piece together the truth, she uncovers dark events in her high school's history and a string of coded messages Becca has left for her. These clues point to another missing girl thirty years previously and a sinister urban legend: a goddess figure, who played an eerie role in Nora and Becca's own childhood games . . . As Nora struggles to unravel the mystery, it's clear there are dark forces at work in her town - and they're willing to stop at nothing to keep their secrets buried deep.
The Book of Magic
For centuries, the Owens family has been cursed in matters of love. When beloved aunt Jet Owens hears the sound of the deathwatch beetle, she knows that it is a signal. She has finally discovered the secret to breaking the curse, but time is running out. She has only seven days to live. Unaware of the family's witchcraft lineage and all it entails, one of the young sisters of the new Owens generation has fallen in love. As the curse strikes once again, her love's fate hangs in the balance, spurring three generations of Owens to venture back to where it all began and use their gifts to break the spell that has marked all their lives.
