100 years of memories: Leyden celebrates success, honors history at gala
It was a celebration 100 years in the making on February 8, as 850 Leyden graduates, students, parents, staff and community leaders filled the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont.
Blue, gold, and a few splashes of maroon, graced centerpieces and balloon displays, as two mascots, our current Leyden eagle Vega and a throwback knight, mingled with guests. There were photo backdrops, Leyden memorabilia, a video booth, and a traveling exhibit, Leyden: Making History, which all contributed to the engaging event.
“This event is one of the flagship events for the 100th celebration year, meant to honor Leyden’s past, enjoy this moment in time, and set the course for future generations of Eagles,” said Superintendent Dr. Nick Polyak. “You could feel the connections among friends and the love for Leyden in the room throughout the evening.”
More than $21,000 was raised to help fund scholarships for current and future students through the live and silent auctions and raffle ticket sales.

Parents asked to provide important feedback on State Survey
Through the Illinois State Board of Education, parents have an opportunity to share their thoughts on the important elements of Leyden’s school effectiveness in a state survey called 5Essentials. This survey opens tomorrow, February 18, and families will receive an email with the link as soon as it is available. The input provides Leyden administrators with important information that helps to better understand our parents, students and staff.
In order to remain compliant with this state requirement, Leyden needs a minimum of 20-percent participation from parents, students and staff. Input is kept confidential and helps us understand our families and as we make decisions moving forward.
We encourage parents to please share feelings, insights, and perspective with us via this survey, which will open tomorrow and remain open through March 28.
