Today was a Falcon Family Friday for the record books! We are so fortunate to have such incredibly supportive families here at Fletcher. The day started with breakfast and our Student of the Week award. Then families learned more about the shifts in teaching methodology for mathematics from our SDUSD Math Department experts. They even got to try some of the strategies their kids are being taught. Everyone who attended went home with a set of fact family flashcards. After the math activity, the whole school was treated to a performance from the Danny Green Trio, a jazz ensemble that teaches students about the history and different styles of jazz. The big day is almost here! Our new UTK class is starting Monday. In order to make room for them and our families picking up, school will be dismissed for our UTKers at 2:25 MTThF and at 11:50 on Wednesdays and minimum days. Those who are in PrimeTIme, have an older sibling who pick up, or take the bus will wait at the benches in front of the office.

On Wednesday, our teaching team took part in a Leader in Me training focused on creating classroom leadership roles. We also planned an opportunity for families to join their students and Fletcher team in reimagining our school mission statement. The mission statement will focus on answering the question, "What makes Fletcher special?" Mark your calendars for December 5th at 12:45PM.

Trunk or Treat returns on October 31st! Check out the flyer below for all the details. Students will be allowed to wear costumes to school and join in the fun right after the bell rings. If you are interested in participating, please contact PTA Secretary, Natasha Fields at natasha90@gmail.com. Student costumes must not display blood, gore, or cover their entire face. Additionally, replica weapons of any kind or metallic spikes are strictly prohibited. All student dress code expectations are still in effect.

This week's Student of the Week is George in Mrs. Quaal's 3rd/4th grade class. George is a great role model for his peers both inside and outside the classroom. He frequently supports with cleaning up after breakfast and regularly participates in class. Well done, George! Thanks for exemplifying what it means to be a leader at Fletcher Elementary School!

We still have room for one more on the noon duty team! Hours are MTThF 11:20-12:20. Get paid to help out at your student's school!

The Fletcher Family is overjoyed to announce the arrival of baby Camilo. Our amazing paraprofessional, Astrid and her family grew by one this week. Baby Camilo was born October 18th. Tipping the scales at a mighty four pounds, Camilo is currently getting stronger each day and receiving excellent care in the NICU. Congratulations Astrid and family!!!

The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. Our UTK teacher, Mrs. Malik's son, Soban, joined the Falcon team this week to fill in for Astrid. Soban's fun personality, patience, and dedication to our students was evident the first minute he walked on campus. Welcome Soban! We are so stoked you're on Team Fletcher!
