Thanksgiving Message
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As we approach Thanksgiving, the entire school community - administration, teachers, staff, and I would like to express our gratitude for your ongoing support and partnership. This time of year reminds us of the importance of community, and we are truly thankful for the trust you place in us to guide and nurture your children each day.
We hope this Thanksgiving brings moments of joy, reflection, and quality time with loved ones. May your homes be filled with warmth, laughter, and gratitude.
From all of us at Strongsville Middle School, have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
Sincerely,
Mr. Telloni - Principal
SMS Gives Back
Every year the students at SMS participate in a giving event called SMS Gives Back. Our students and families donate items that will be delivered to families in need for the holidays. Each grade level does something different. To access the signup from your teachers for those donations click here.
On Friday, December 6th students in 6th and 7th grade will wrap gifts at the school and enjoy snacks. The 8th graders will spend the day shopping for gifts and wrapping gifts at the Rec Center. We need parent helpers and donations to help make this day successful. To volunteer to help click here. To donate wrapping day donations click here. To donate cash click here.
This is a school run event, but the PTA is helping with donations and volunteers. If you have questions about these donations or volunteering, please contact Haley LaBahn at haleylabahn@yahoo.com.
Damage to Student Chromebooks
As we integrate Chromebooks into our classroom, it's essential to emphasize the importance of appropriate care for these devices. Chromebooks are a privilege that enhances our learning experience, and we encourage students to treat them with respect.
Please remind your child to handle their Chromebook carefully, as any damage may lead to consequences, including potential fees for repairs. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring that they maintain the device properly.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. Together, we can ensure a positive learning environment for all our schools.
Iowa Algebra Aptitude Test
SMS teachers are in the process of recommending students to take the Iowa Algebra Aptitude test to determine the best middle school math placement for students and assess readiness for the rigors of an Honors math class. However, parents do have the option to request that their student take this test as well.
If your student is not currently in an honors or advanced 6th or 7th grade math class and you wish for your student to be considered for an accelerated math course, please complete this form. Students who are entered into this form will be given the opportunity to test to see if they are able to be considered for this path. The test will be administered mid-January. Please finalize your request by January 6, 2025. Thank you.
